Canada pulls the plug on the U.S. Keystone Pipeline – will send oil to Asia
WUWT ^ | 6/28/2014 | Anthony Watts

Posted on 06/29/2014 8:38:39 PM PDT by Signalman

Obama’s inability to make a decision on Keystone has finally yielded a result – Canada has made the decision for him.

Breitbart reports Canada has just approved the Enbridge Northern Gateway Project – a major pipeline to ship Canadian oil to Asia.

The Canadian oil will still be burnt – in Asia, instead of America.

All the jobs and energy security which Canadian oil could have delivered to America, will instead be delivered to Asia.

Rather than purchasing crude from a friendly and allied neighbor, the United States will most likely need to continue its reliance upon hostile sources like Venezuela. Energy analysts had hoped that construction of Keystone could have replaced almost half of the current U.S. daily crude purchases from that volatile, anti-American dictatorship, depriving Venezuela of the resources it relies upon to stay in power and fund its Cuban allies.

You can’t say Canada didn’t give America a chance – they waited years for the American administration to come to their senses. But in the end, they couldn’t wait any longer, and have put the interests of Canadians first.

This has Warren Buffet's fingerprints on it I bet. Now there is no alternative to using the railroads to ship oil, and he outright owns one of them I'm pretty sure.

Another billionaire who has everything a normal guy could possibly want, but chooses to scroo up the American economy instead. Crony capitalism at its best.

Obama already made the decision, and this is it. All he had to do is make no decision and he, and everyone else, knew this would be the outcome. This way he can’t be blamed directly and he has deniability.

Truth be told, this accomplishes the same end result as if the pipeline were to be built to the Gulf.

Crude is fungible. Another barrel in the world bucket, whether in the Gulf pot or in the Pacific pot enlarges the world supply. Obama loses, the World wins.

The U.S. economy also loses the benefits of that crude being wholesaled in the U.S. which effect the Messiah likes.

Another Obama triumph. America poorer, somebody else richer. Punish those white people!

Obama will nuke an American city, or cities, to collapse the former United States, unless there is some compelling reason not to do it. The deaths of millions of evil white people would be a reason FOR doing it.

It was Obama’s plan, all the time, to send the oil , and the coal, to Asia. Obama’s energy plan is to starve America of fossil fuels, while sending them to Asia. It is a redistribution of welth in the form of fossil fuels.

The unintended consequences or not:

- Lost keystone pipeline construction jobs.
- Lost jobs at the gulf ports.
- West coast jobs lost to Canadian Shipping Ports.

With many of them good paying sustained employment jobs. Another consequence is increased foreign presence near Pacific U.S which will eventually justify China’s Naval presence.

I imagine that if we continue this ‘progressive’ trajectory, by 2030 China’s Naval ships will be welcome in Canada and Latin America — and I think we’ve already lost Latin American on that account.

If you don't see your post, it's best to refresh the page before concluding it didn't hit.

Canada pulls the plug on the U.S. Keystone Pipeline

- - - - - -

Completely false claim. The Keystone XL pipeline is still approved by the Canadian government and they want it approved by the US.

The Northern Gateway Pipeline is not a replacement for the Keystone XL. Both projects have been in the approval cycle for years. Both have commitments to move crude oil/bitumen/dilbit by companies.

This is not an either/or project replacement. It is an additional project and both need to be completed.

Agree with what you have said, but some added info:

The pumps for Keystone were built by the Sulzer corporation and have been sitting in long term storage for some years now. It is my understanding that they are being 'reassigned' for other uses (not sure if it is this one or not). These pumps are a 48-52 week lead item. Meaning if the project is approved, that cycle would start over.
