An accomplished friend and 26-year-old living in New York has realized her vocation: She was made to bridesmaid. She was born to bridesmaid. Bridesmaid she shall, until death does everyone part.
This tremendous wedding-party member and recent entrepreneur has taken out a Craigslist ad to describe her skills and services.
But why might one want a Professional Bridesmaid and Hired Friend (trademark pending)? Because a master can boast years of honed skills! This particular wedding virtuoso cites her award-winning skills in:
Holding up the 18 layers of your dress so that you can pee with ease on your wedding day.
Doing the electric and the cha cha slides.
Responding in a timely manner to pre-wedding email chains created by other bridesmaids and the Maid of Honor.
You know you cant expect your amateur friends to have perfectly honed these skills by the time you require them. Consider hiring a Professional Bridesmaid today. Craigslist eagerly awaits your reply.
I was born to sloth. To lazy to post a craigslist ad.
Not sure which is more sad. Doing that or the person who has to hire one.
I think it’s a great idea.
sounds like someone has created a career.
I know of one Bride this year who had to dismiss her bridesmaid cause she wasn’t fulfilling her duties.
This has money making potential.
I think it might work.
Most woman I know HATE to be bridesmaids. They hate having to waste money buying an unflattering dress they don’t even get to pick out. They hate all the jobs they are given. They hate all the waiting around time. They hate having to be nice to people they would prefer not to be around at the wedding.
I think it is a pretty good idea as well.
But there is a bit of charm in batchelor party that, even though somewhat amateurishly executed, was conceived by your best friend.
Just as the obverse is true: a professionally planned batchelor party has a slight sense of creepiness to it because you had to pay money for someone to be a surrogate for your best friend.
Mind you, I am not talking about the batchelor parties that go REALLY bad, even though you are sure to talk about it for decades afterwards.
But the ones that a friend tries to tailor to the tastes of a friend and are a little flat in some parts...those are okay...:)
Also, the person doing it for a living...what if...they really just like doing it and have a good time no matter who they are with?
I read that story about Rob Gronkowski of the New England Patriots which somehow tickled my funny bone...he would hire himself out to parties (some woman’s 20th birthday or something like that) and would just hang out and...party He didn’t get mental, just had a beer in his hand, and talked to people as if he was just another big polish guy at a party.
He just liked it.
I think the woman’s friends paid $1000 for two hours of having him just attend the party. It really seemed quite humorous to me!
In the Ancient World they had Professional Mourners.
Which is REALLY sad!
Actually she would be helpful for those of us who really don’t have friends. It would be like escort services in a way.
My daughter was a bridesmaid a few weeks back at her college roommate’s wedding. All four girls who lived in the house in college were together (the bride and three bridesmaids). They all had a complete ball and the groom’s parents treated them all to dinners, nights out, limos, and events in addition to the wedding. They had a wonderful time being bridesmaids.
There’s a very old saying, “Three times a bridesmaid, never a bride.” I would advise ladies to use that when asked to be a bridesmaid. “Sorry, I’ve been a bridesmaid twice already, and I’m superstitious.” Great way to get out of it.
“They had a wonderful time being bridesmaids.”
I’m glad it worked out well for them. There are many weddings where everything goes great and everyone has a great time.
