The Saints' Jimmy Graham and the NFL Players Association were dealt a setback Wednesday when an arbitrator ruled that he can only be considered a tight end for the purposes of his franchise tag designation.
NFLPA had filed a grievance arguing that Graham was used as a wide receiver often enough to qualify for the more lucrative receiver tag. But arbitrator Stephen Burbank disagreed and now the NFLPA is reviewing his ruling, and will advise Graham on his options, which could include an appeal.

I am amazed at the difference in salary between the positions for the franchise tag. I would think a good tight and is worth almost the same as a wide out.
Should be pro-rated based on the percentage of time lined up in each position. I suppose he could tell the team that he can’t line up as a wide receiver since he’s just a tight end.
I guess Michael Sam doesn’t have to worry about being considered a tight end.
He put Tight End on his own twitter feed. Might have cost him 4 mill!
Of course, he is a tight end. Excellent hands but a TE.
Thank Allah. Who wants to be a loose end?
Maybe Barack Obama and Reggie Love could give him some “wide receiver” pointers...
The lbgtxyz community is keeping their mouth shut on the ruling but will comment later after they agree on a joint position.
That doesn't sound all that cracked up....
“Hit me with the Wide Receiver”
Now you done did it. I have to break out my roller skates and JVC boombox now.
I don’t see any WR in a 3 point stance blocking a DL or LB. Graham is a TE.
