Need Firefox Help
7/2/14

Posted on 07/02/2014 8:18:02 PM PDT by pabianice

I have been using Firefox for some time with little problem. But today when I used it it had slowed to a crawl -- unusably slow, really. A page takes 3-4 minutes to load. I have changed nothing on my PC. My internet speed checks fine (I use Verizon). Can anyone give a suggestion to clear this up? Thanks.

But seriously, does IE or Chrome behave similarly?

Also, to troubleshoot you might want to try FF in safe mode to see if it is an add-on that is troubling you. At the top of the Firefox window, click the Help menu and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.... Firefox will start up with the Firefox Safe Mode dialog.

try clearing the cache and turning off some of the add-ons.

Then download the Pale Moon browser

Unless you have a Mac, try migrating to PaleMoon. Same user interface, much more compact, runs faster, and is politically neutral.

I recently switched to Pale Moon. It is like Firefox back when it actually worked.

I have been using Blue Moon on my laptop for about a week.

FYI. The 32-bit version of BM will run many of the Firefox Extensions/Add-ons. The 64-bit version may have problems with the them. Firefox is still 32-bit.

How could you not have gotten the message about FireFox?

Indeed. Not like Mozilla did the right thing by Brendan Eich yet.

Install the Pale Moon browser and then delete Firefox.

call verizon have them run a test on your line. We had squirrels get in the wiring box up on the pole, chewing on insulation. Slowed things considerably

You may have malware in your computer. I have the same problem, it always redirect to other site and ask me to download its program. It does slow down a lot. I reset Firefox which helps, but I still have the problem. It’s difficult for me to find a program which runs on XP.
Any suggestion???

Flash is usually the culprit.

Running FF v.30 on WXP SP3 and no problems.

I run Avast AV/Firewall and Malware AntiMalware.

What version of FF and Windows are you running?
