When I was given mindless tasks at work I would listen to the Shep radio shows while I did them.

Eat your breakfast.
You're not old enough to play with cherry bombs.

Please add me to the list. While I never got to hear his radio show, I have all of his books, personally inscribed to me when I met him about 25 years ago. His books are some of the few that actually make me laugh out loud....He is missed.

When my parents were courting, they listened to Jean Sheperd on WOR. I spent my childhood and adolescence listening to him , and Bob and Ray.
I would be honored to be on a Shepherd ping list.

What’s the name of the TV episode where his dad buys a house in kit form from Sears, who delivers it to a railyard. All his dad’s “friends” come down to help him load the boxes on their trucks, then decide to open a few and have the stuff scattered all over the yard. Then it starts to rain and they all bail out on him.

Shep stands alone on the podium of great radio voices.
Ken Nordine is close, so are Bob and Ray, but Shep is always #1 in my heart.
Please add me to the ping list.
To: Rodamala
Thanks. I saw this a few years ago, and forgot about it.
Happy 4th.

Me and Fleck want on that list, too. Started listening to Shep on a microscopic talk radio station, WKAT, squirreled away somewhere on Miami Beach in 1970, only to discover later that I could listen to him on WOR out of New York City, when the nighttime Medium Wave propagation was running. He and Barry Farber (who is still kicking, by the way) got this displaced adolescent through some rough adjustments and patches, God bless 'em.
I still have cassette tapes of his programs, taped live over the air, from that era. I dare not play them except to move them immediately to digital.
What a treat. Thanks!
