10 Movies That Make You Proud to Be an American
Pajamas Media ^ | 07/04/2014 | JAMES JAY CARAFANO

Posted on 07/05/2014 6:59:54 AM PDT by SeekAndFind

These films across genres and decades show American exceptionalism on screen.

When it comes to the “land I love,” the movies that move us most happen to be based on the stories of real Americans. They get to the core of what America really means and show why this nation is truly exceptional.

America’s dedication to liberty makes it a nation like no other. That’s why, whether the setting is war, politics, courtrooms, sports, or science, when Hollywood makes movies about exceptional Americans they celebrate the true value and meaning of liberty. And that inspires us.

America’s dedication to liberty makes it a nation like no other.

***************
Not so much anymore. About half the people in this country could care less about liberty. They view the government as a provider of handouts and entitlements, not as the protector of freedom.

Both “The Wind and The Lion” and “United 93” name the enemy.

Going into my Netflix queue to get these one to watch again.

Do they still make “movies”? I last went to a theater in Slovakia in 2008?
I now get tons of movies on my new cable...God, what garbage.
How can they even think up such trash? How can anyone pay money to go to a theater to see them? Wait..Do they even have movie theaters anymore?

It has been only in the last year that I have had cable
TV. I can not get over the racial diversity in today’s movies.

YES! Amazing how many people we’ve showed it to who never realized what went on in those years. I’ve always been grateful that JFK took the leadership role in pushing us into space. What a contrast with today’s apologists for America who continue to denigrate our country and push us toward third world status. Quite a contrast.

Thanks SaF.....I'd add 'Battleground' Its up to 'Saving Private Ryan" as to realism. Directed by William A. Wellman. With Van Johnson, John Hodiak, Ricardo Montalban, George Murphy. A squad of the 101st Airborne Division copes with being trapped in Bastogne

How is it possible that Miracle did not make this list? And equally wrong is that 42 did make it. Watching Team USA defeat the Bolsheviks at the height of the Cold War makes me proud. Watching an overt display of systematic racism in Democrat America does not.

This is my top 10 USA LIST: (right off the top of my head)

From Paris with Love
(the hilarious scene when CIA agent Travolta starts ranting at the French immigration guy being anti-American and that America saved France twice is worth it)

Cocktail
(Tom Cruise coming back from war, opening a bar, preaching about the greater points of capitalism and hard work, plus marrying his rich and pregnant girlfriend w/o the dad’s $ help)

Right Stuff

It’s a Beautiful Life
(the last scene when an American tank rescues the kid from a Nazi camp makes the list)

Memphis Belle

Invasion USA
(Chuck Norris kills every muzzie rag invading US shores, nothing more patriotic about that)

Battleship (yeah, it’s CGI circus, but US ships battling aliens, just like...)

INDEPENDENCE DAY

**all Luc Besson movies (Taken, 3 days to kill, From Paris with Love)—CIA agents being American isntead of the stereotype murderers in lib movies

Miracle (about the 1980’s gold medal game)

The movie Gotcha! when Jonathan escapes East Berlin and makes it to a West Berlin Burger King:

“How ‘bout a Whopper? No, make that a Double Whopper with American cheese. And large American french fries, and a great big American chocolate shake. Okay? No sauerkraut. No schnitzel.”

There were 2 pro-conservative scenes in Cocktail I should mention:

1) The lib professor in his night class was insulting Cruise in front of everybody for dreaming that his bar idea will go nationwide. Cruise response was “at least I’m not hiding here being a teacher, teaching about business when I really couldn’t hack it in the real world”

2) When his best friend’s wife was hitting on him to sleep with him and Cruise refused, the wife says “what’s wrong with you, I can’t sleep with one man only”. Cruise then says “it’s called marriage, deal with it.”
