Arnold, Maryland

Everyone bashes Maryland so I wanted to show folks where I live in Maryland and PROVE that it is NOT a communist state. Read every word before you call me a liar.....lol.

Arnold is a medium-sized coastal town (i.e. on the ocean, a bay, or inlet) located in the state of Maryland. With a population of 23,106 people and five constituent neighborhoods, Arnold is the 47th largest community in Maryland.

Housing costs in Arnold are among some of the highest in the nation, although real estate prices here don’t compare to real estate prices in the most expensive communities in Maryland.

Arnold is a decidedly white-collar town, with fully 88.35% of the workforce employed in white-collar jobs, well above the national average. Overall, Arnold is a town of professionals, sales and office workers and managers. There are especially a lot of people living in Arnold who work in management occupations (15.00%), sales jobs (12.00%) and office and administrative support (11.71%).

Also of interest is that Arnold has more people living here who work in computers and math than 95% of the places in the US.

Because of many things, Arnold is a great place for families with children to consider. First of all, many other families with children live here, making Arnold a place where both parents and children are more likely to develop social ties with other families, as well as find family-oriented services and community. The town’s good public school district and large population of college-educated adults provide an environment conducive to academic values. With regard to real estate, Arnold has a high rate of owner-occupied single family homes, which tends to reflect stability in the local community. Finally, Arnold’s overall crime rate is lower than average for the country.

Arnold is also nautical, which means that parts of it are somewhat historic and touch the ocean or tidal bodies of water, such as inlets and bays. Quite often, nautical areas such as these attract visitors and locals who come to enjoy the scenery and various waterfront activities.

Arnold Information and Demographics

Do you like to read, write and learn? If you move to Arnold, you’ll likely find that many of your neighbors like to as well. Arnold is one of the more educated communities in America, with a full 52.52% of its adults having a college degree or even advanced degree, compared to a national average across all communities of 21.84%.

The per capita income in Arnold in 2010 was $45,970, which is wealthy relative to Maryland and the nation. This equates to an annual income of $183,880 for a family of four.

Does this really sound like a commie state of Maryland????????? NO!!!!!

I won’t step foot in facist states like MD, NJ and NY. If I can not exercise my 2a rights I won’t go there. With that said, I sure the Arnold is a great place, just like there are great places in NY and maybe NJ. The problem is that the rest of the state is a mess.

I’m very much a fan of Maryland if you discount those towns and cities that border Washington. How I have missed Arnold puzzles me. Delmarva is like home to me and I have fished and sailed all over the Bay, Goose hunted all over the eastern shore and crabbed wherever the blue crab can be found. Now, where is Arnold?

Which way did Maryland go on the presidential election?
that will give the answer.

I believe Maryland voted for the Marxist, communist or what ever he is and who ever he is and from where ever he is from, so I can not say Maryland is communist but what ever he is they voted for it.

Ellington, Connecticut is a republican town, but just like Arnold, Maryland, it is in a commie state.

Naps is an entirely suitable sobriquet for you, Last name: Pollyanna.

Tell you what, let me drive you home from the Annapolis Yacht Club. If I make a wrong turn, we're both dead men. Of course, that covers Baltimore, too. Corrupt? Maryland? You betcha.

FGS, they tax the rain here! Yes. I guess my tax went from 7400 dollars a year to around 7540 a year for the rain tax. That is a bit weird.

I guess that's why they need the $183K for a family of 4. Down in MS, my taxes, insurance, flood insurance, and auto insurance totals about $5400 per year.

That said, being in the middle of a Left-Wing (and therefore more expensive) cesspool doesn't make Y'All part of the problem - you just get to share in it a little more.

My town of Mount Airy is a good place to live, too, IMO. However, I still think Maryland’s government and politics suck, and I will be leaving sooner or later.

The fact that such places as Arnold and Mount Airy exist do not stop this from being a commie state overall. Please continue to enjoy your life on the waterfront. Just don’t pay too much attention to your tax bill, and you’ll be fine.

Maryland “FREEEEEEEEEEAAAAAKKK STATE” PING!

I been seeing beggars with signs at the Columbia mall and other strip malls in Howard county, they go like
Jobless with three kids to support and about to be evicted.
Please help and give what you can and God bless”

I remember back when the Baltimore Sun used to complain that there were not enough poor people here in Howard county, well now they are here.

Is Arnold named for Benedict Arnold? I always thought it was interesting that Benedict, Md. is just 50 miles or so down the road.

Duh... a "family of four" has traditionally meant two adults and two children. One of the adults may or may not work for a salary. Therefore, this equates to an annual income of $45,970 to $91,940, unless the children are adolescent geniuses making an average of $45,970.

Pretty sad that a freeper believes he lives in a paradise but the reality is he lives in a leftwing communist freak state.

That freeper doth protest too much.

Or how about the 2013 Homeowner Association Act, that overrides all existing HOA by-laws so that the state can in effect make by-law communities toothless. They can now stick all the Section 8 people in wherever they want by "supplementing" their income with tax money, ruining neighborhoods where people with jobs have been paying high monthly dues to have had a safe neighborhood. Now, to hell with the property values and your peace once they force communities to allow rentals and the thumper cars move right in, cursing, yelling and strewing trash.

First of all I didn’t write this. Second of all, because we are so successful, the average of the area equates to $183,880 a family which means that because the father and mother not only stayed together, but they also are educated and kept their high paying jobs. Sorry that all of America is not like this place. We would be better off. However, even on FREEREPUBLIC we have folks like yourself who are jealous of wealth and success.....so sad.

Is Arnold named for Benedict Arnold? I always thought it was interesting that Benedict, Md. is just 50 miles or so down the road.

According to Wikipedia, "the early settlement of Arnold... began with the farm of John Arnold... a veteran of the War of 1812, [who] acquired 300 acres... on the north side of the Severn River."

According to MapQuest, "Benedict, Maryland is a small unincorporated town in Charles County, Maryland, located on the Patuxent River in Southern Maryland... Originally a fishing village in the late 17th century, it was named Benedict-Leonardtown for Benedict Leonard Calvert.

"In the War of 1812, Benedict was... where the British Army... landed on August 18, 1814, after having fought fierce naval battles with American naval forces in the Patuxent. From Benedict, the British began their march to Washington, D.C., ultimately burning that city before finally being stopped in the Battle of Baltimore."

Where in the world did you get the idea that I am jealous of wealth and success because I pointed out that the article incorrectly implied that a family of four has four incomes? I live in above average circumstances, pay lots of taxes and community dues to do so, and had a long, wonderful, accomplished career in Fortune 100 companies when it was still possible. Get over yourself.
