Google Maps Satellite shows the alley across the street from the shoe repair shop is open at the back. It’s a drive through for the BMO Harris Bank (714 Broad Ripple Avenue), right next to a Chase branch.

The shooting happened about 2:20 a.m. outside a shoe repair shop in the 700 block of Broad Ripple Avenue, between College and Carrollton avenues. I am guessing there was more in involvement with Ripple than just the street name.
