A Saudi man set precedence in the Gulf Kingdom’s conservative society when he sought his wife’s written opinion whether she would let him marry again. But her response carried an implicit threat to her husband.
In a letter he left her at home, the husband told his wife that he intends to marry again on the grounds Islam permits men to have four wives at a time.
A copy of the letter published by Sada newspaper showed the man marked two answers at the bottom “I agree and I don’t agree.”
It showed the wife not only answered “I don’t agree” but added a threatening phrase saying :”try and you will see.”
Sada said the letter was circulated on social networks but did not mention where in Saudi Arabia the couple lives.
When is “mother” coming to pay a visit?
Admittedly I don’t understand the Muslim culture at all, but I don’t see the advantage of having more than one wife.
I grew up in a family with 5 sisters and 2 bothers. I found living in a house with multiple females constantly bickering intolerable.
I can’t for the life of me imagine seeking to add another wife to my household, the rivalry that would ensue would make your life a living H*LL. Mediating arguments between your wives would eat up enormous amounts of time.
I wonder what evil would befall this man should he be found out.
I would think he would be considered rather less than a manly man for asking for his wife’s approval for bringing a second wife home. And the little warning added by his wife seems to suggest that he does not wear the pants in the family.
However, as a husband, I have to ask. One wife is not enough?

Hmmmmmm...perhaps if you were able to present the draconian onus possibility of stoning, beheading under the guise of 'honor' killing...then perhaps all would be quiet on your western front.

It may quite things when I was home but the bickering would simply occur when I was not at home.
It is a simple fact that there can only be one Alpha female in the house. The other given is that there is always a battle going on as to who that is if there is more than one female in the house.
Of course adding another mother-in-law would be a crap shoot.
Our house had bothers. Plenty of 'em.
Perhaps I biased toward my own sex but it always seemed to me that daughters are much more disrespectful than sons.
How does your experiences jibe with my observations?
Poor you, truly. Anybody who wants to live in a house full of women is nuts - pure and simple. They make life miserable for everyone. And from what I’ve read Muslim women are vicious to the poor innocent brides who end up their harems. Scheherazade, it ain’t.
