Report: Costco Is Removing Conservative Authorís Bestselling Book From Its Stores Nationwide
The Blaze ^ | 7.8.2014 | Jason Howerton

Costco Wholesale, the second-largest retailer in the United States, has apparently decided to remove all copies of Dinesh D’Souza’s bestselling book, “America: Imagine a World Without Her,” from its stores nationwide, WND reports. The decision to yank the book, if true, would coincide with the theatrical release of D’Souza’s new film of the same name last week.

Scott Losse, an inventory control specialist in the book department at the Costco Wholesale’s Issaquah, Washington, corporate office, reportedly confirmed that a nationwide “pull-order” was issued for D’Souza’s book. All copies are now reportedly required to be removed by July 15.

Costco has sold about 3,600 copies of “America” nationwide.

D’Souza was apparently unaware of any order to remove his book from Costco shelves, saying, “If true, this would be very odd.”

“We’re in the process of finding out what’s happening. I look forward to getting to the bottom of this and continuing the strong relationship my publisher and I have always had with Costco and their millions of shoppers,” he told WND.

“America” takes aim at the progressive ideology, which D’Souza claims shapes the policies of the Obama administration.

“It is the Progressive view that is taught in our schools, that is preached by Hollywood, and that shapes the policies of the Obama administration. If America is a force for inequality and injustice in the world, its power deserves to be diminished; if traditional America is based on oppression and theft, then traditional America must be reformed—and the federal government can do the reforming,” the book’s description reads.

“In America: Imagine a World without Her D’Souza offers a passionate and sharply reasoned defense of America, knocking down every important accusation made by Progressives against our country,” it adds.

As of Monday night, “America” was No. 51 on Amazon’s bestsellers list. Despite strong sales, the book was not featured in the New York Times bestsellers list. D’Souza accused the newspaper of “rigging” its list.

We saw it on Sunday and it was almost sold out. we really liked it.

I have gone to Barnes and Noble in the last two weeks to buy children's fiction books to read for school this year in Language Arts class and each time I get a slip with my receipt that says "Other books you might like" and on each one they list Hillary's book!!!! HOW does buying a children's books trigger her title???

I will not be renewing my membership. How long will it be before I have to cancel my Sam’s Club membership? I may have to move to Texas and pray for secession.

and they are experience a large number of calls with a wait time of 14 minutes.

Angry conservatives are calling.

“Email Costco...Tell them what you think:

A better approach is to buy a copy from Amazon and send the lefties in charge of Costco a copy of your receipt. Then, ask them if they want to explain the loss of business at a board meeting due to their political biases.

“”Other books you might like” and on each one they list Hillary’s book!!!! HOW does buying a children’s books trigger her title??? “

B&N is like most of the book stores which have gone belly up in the last decade or so.

They are liberal and pull stuff like this.

B&N like most book peddlers is in severe financial trouble. BS like this drives conservatives away and out of their stores.

[ I will not be renewing my membership. ]

No, go in there and demand a refund, even if it is pro-rated...

Say a yearly membership costs 50.00, and the year is half over, demand that they refund you 25.00 bucks

“The book, in this midterm election year, is a strong rebuttal of the progressive ideology behind President Obama’s policies, which have been supported by Costco co-founder and director Jim Sinegal, a major Democrat donor and a speaker at the 2012 Democratic National Convention that nominated the president. A Washington Post political reporter has noted Obama’s “romance” with the nation’s second-largest retailer.”

“I wonder how the film is doing???”

(I’m rounding numbers for discussion purposes...)

The wide opening of the new film made over 2 million dollars. His film “2016: Obama’s America” made 6 million opening weekend in the same number of theaters.

So in that sense, this film isn’t doing as well as his 2012 film.

Other things to consider: nothing brought the boom to the box office this July 4th. J4 is a huge moviegoing weekend, except when J4 falls on a Friday, which it did this year. Also, nobody likes the other movies that are playing, so there’s no “gotta see” or word of mouth happening bringing people to theaters. That type of indifference to what’s playing depresses movie attendance, across the board.

But this is the type of film that plays over the long haul — it doesn’t make all its money the first weekend, like “Transformers.” (And for comparative purposes, “Transformers” is playing in over 4,000 theaters.)

As of this morning, the film’s total in 10 days of release is 4 million, playing in a thousand theaters.

Right now, it’s holding its own. The important number to watch going forward is audience growth — will it make more money this weekend than last weekend? This film needs to build over the next couple of weekends to do as well as or better than its predecessor.
