Now a series of fascinating new photographs reveals daily life for the detainees and armed forces personnel on the base, which the United States technically pays Cuba a little more than $4,000 annually - less than the cost of a Midtown Manhattan apartment. From the eerie remnants of the notorious Camp X-Ray which did so much to damage American moral authority in the aftermath of 9/11 to the now infamous entertainment library of Hollywood movies available to the inmates, Guantanamo is a mixture of working military base and haunting echo of a dark era in the history of the United States.

I am positive that there are prisons on this planet which are much more notorious than Gitmo.
Lots of them.
Prisoners being forced to break rocks with their bare hands and being held halfway out of the water while sharks eat the flesh off their lower halves. Gitmo, a regime of absolute terror. Until mint juleps are served at 2 p.m.
The perfect spot for Obama to serve his sentence!
Time for the Daily Wail to self-immolate.
Give the jihadis a choice, GITMO or Cook county jail Illinois. See which one they choose.
if the Brits would like to take physical responsibility for all the Gitmo prisoners (some of which they captured), then jolly well have at it. Move Gitmo to Cambridge. Please. Otherwise, sit down. P.S. Gitmo has been US Territory since 1903.
I support spending the $3 billion on building a new Illegal Permanent Detention Center there.
Now that’s a really notorious prison.Three meals a day a soccer field. The Best health care money can buy.Even better than that of U.S.Military veterans.
All gratis during your vacation land in the carribean.
Maybe we can lease Devil’s Island from the French and move the prisoners there.
Cracked did a story on Guantanamo Bay
written by a ex-guard.
It is a true hell-hole...for guards it is.
Be afraid. Be very afraid.
