Uh, thanks but I’ll stick with warming. An ice age would be a lot worse but is probably equally likely from what we actually know. We do know that regional and worldwide climates are constantly changing. These changes are a matter of fact. I’ll acknowledge that CO2 is one of a number of greenhouse gases and a very slight increase has occurred likely due to human activities. However, the interplay among currents, proximity to the sun, sun spots, and literally hundreds of other influences are very poorly understood. Rather than declaring the “case closed” we must do all the research possible in all the requisite directions.

We won’t allow free research because there is too much political power and control involved and far too much money. It’s been a long time since environmentalists were interested in non directed and non predetermined research.

Ahhhhhh......the great things I learned in school in the 60s and 70s.

“There won’t be any more gasoline by 1980.”

“By 1980, mothers won’t be able to breast feed their babies because of all the pollution.”

By 1980, everyone on earth will have to live within a few hundred miles of the equator because of the coming ice age.”

So much of the so called "science" we read about is politically based. At this point, I'm not worried about global warming because I know we can cancel it out with a nuclear winter.

Wasn't that around the time of the amped up Women's Liberation Movement, National Organization of Women, and the Equal Rights Amendment?

Could that just be coincidence? Sub-zero temps, Baby.

I loved this show when I was a kid... I knew Leonard Nimoy more from In Search Of than Star Trek. Cue the theme music!

Yes and there has always been a political angle to “science” but even if one ignores that it is hard to ignore how many times “experts” have been wrong concerning pending disasters and apocalyptic scenarios which reveals the humanity and the flawed human nature of even the priests of science.

I’ve always loved science what I don’t love is the ego driven insistence that it must have a goal to invalidate the concept of God, energy production, human civilization, and on and on. What has occurred increasingly is that those who have no traditional religion fill that moral void with scientism. What we see increasingly is a secular religion dressed in the garb and language of science. It has its own rites, its own thou shalt nots, and great stories built of a bits of rock and bone stitched together with great flights of imagination and not much more. They find a toe bone of a “squirrel like” creature with no DNA and no truly empirical way of truly verifying anything and suddenly there is an artist rendition of one of humanities earliest “relatives”. That isn’t science that is the furthest thing from it. Its a parody of science framed in word webs meant to impress and intimidate the common man.

We just passed a weak solar maximum within this extended minimum. It’s likely that cold fluctuations on the CO Rockies will be very unusual and interesting between 3 and 9 years from now. For one example of many, propane stops producing pressure at near -44, F (44 below zero). I’ve seen propane pressure get very low at about 39 below.

Yes - real science is a search for truth. So many of the so called scientists call us "deniers" as if we've insulted their religion by questioning them.

and of course there are plenty of real scientists who laugh at the TV scientists.

The biggest difference I see is that most religions don’t mandate that everyone ELSE live in poverty for that religion’s supposed sins.
