This presenter makes a clarinet out of a carrot. For real. And it sounds great! Click on the link in Reply #1 to see.

Fun and interesting video. I was surprised at the sound produced.

It’s funny really. I’m a hobbyist musician with decent gear. But you go on the music boards and they are filled with people that just ‘can’t’ play ‘good’ music without a 757 strat into a Blackface fender or a Jupiter 8 synth.

It’s just impossible!!!

Funny, My Charvel and Integra 7 sound musical to me...

If you’re ever in Toronto, go to Yonge & Dundas and you’ll see some mind-blowing street talent. I live just a few blocks away so I’ll shoot some video next chance I get. We’ve also got Buskerfest coming up next month and I plan to be all over it.

Oh hell you are in Synthwave Central for Canada! Check out the Birthday Massacre if you get the chance. They are based there IRRC.

Out here in the AZ desert we listen to cactus in the wind for live entertainment ;)

Remember the Casio VL-Tone? We used to call it the Viletone but it was used for a one-hit wonder in 1982.

Vancouver also has a great scene but I’ve never been further west than the Great Lakes. Nettwerk Music is still cutting-edge with quality talent.

Toronto is great for all forms of music. I live within walking distance of the symphony, the opera, musical theatre and the Royal Conservatory of Music.

I LOVE this! I have my GD growing carrots and learning some gardening this summer. Also, she plays the sax. I doubt if her carrots will grow that big, by summer’s end. I can’t wait to show her this vid in the morning!

People still trawl the Bay for them. Mini classics...if only for that quirky horrid but useful sound ;)

That was truly awesome.

Thanks for the ping.

/now Salamander wonders why her school clarinet needed all those stupid holes and keys

The sound is actually closer to a soprano sax, the sort Kenny G plays. Very cool.

Aha. Someone from the garden thread. I guess I should ping greeneyes.

Ping for a new use for veggies.
