'Don't hate the men who killed my husband' Brave widow calls for forgiveness of two men (Barf)

Two North Carolina men are facing the death penalty in the murder of a young volunteer firefighter last December - but the victim’s wife says she has already forgiven them.

Jalend Turner, 19, and Khari McClelland, 23, have been charged with first-degree murder for allegedly gunning down 25-year-old Marcus Kauffman during a burglary at his Rowan County home in December 2013.

Kauffman, who served on the Scotch Irish Volunteer Fire Department, was shot in the head and died three weeks later from his injuries at Carolinas Medical Center.

“You seem to be reacting quite disgustedly against a Christian who is following both the precepts and the example of Jesus. I never considered Jesus barf-worthy.”

There seems to be an assumption that if she forgives them, then she doesn’t want them punished. Not necessarily true.

It’s appropriate to forgive them, then execute them.

Agree. Brave is not the adjective I’m thinking of for this woman.

I've read the Bible enough to know that if someone had killed one of King David's wives, David would have hunted them with a spear and impaled them to a wall. Then he would have written a Psalm about it. God would have blessed him the next spring with a bumper harvest. My point being-- these two losers should be fried. There's nothing wrong with getting angry about things- being passionate. People need to feel a little heat.

Forgiveness, at the Human level, is often a cathartic for the person doing the forgiving. Better to forgive and get on with your life than allow the bile of hate to eat at your soul. King David aside - if she were to hunt them down and kill them, God may or may not bless her, but she would pay a worse legal penalty than them. Kind of funny how so many who have probably never actually done any serious retribution/vengeance are so quick to exhort others to it. They also use the Bible to justify non-Christian thoughts/actions.

Being able to forgive is her God given right, but that does NOT EXEMPT them from the criminal laws they broke.

Ashley ‘Nikki’ Read, 2 juries decided that the Death Penalty was the correct punishment for the RAPE and MURDER of this 8 year old.. ALL APPEALS have run out. Justice delayed is Justice DENIED!

TN Gov email is bill.haslam@tn.gov
615 741-2001

David Keen
David Keen
http://murderpedia.org/male.K/k/keen-david.htm

This CHILD RAPIST HAS RUN OUT OF ALL 20 YRS OF APPEALS, TN GOV Halsam still has NOT SET AN EXECUTION DATE OR SIGNED A DEATH WARRANT, EMAIL HIM TO DO SO bill.haslam@tn.gov 615 741-2001 Phone calls are more effective.

This is 20 years of appeals. 24 YRS SINCE THE CRIME. TOOK ONLY THE DNA TO PROVE WHO DID IT, #1 SUSPECT. DNA & confession proved he raped, strangled to death with her OWN SHOE LACES 8 year old Ashley ‘Nicki’ Read and then threw her body in the river. Even helped hunt for what was thought to be a missing child. Nikki had water in her lungs, which means she was till somewhat alive when he threw her battered body in the river.

remember the priest who ran a spear into the couple as Moses watched? A man was bringing a foreign woman into his tent and the priest ran them through and God said he was the only person who did rightly. Interesting story. At His trial, Jesus was beaten on the cheek and He didn’t turn the other one so obviously it is figurative I can go on and on

I suspect that most of those who are blasting Christian forgiveness, assume that forgiveness is the same as moral relativism. They think the widow of the murdered man is saying "What you did wasn't bad" or "It wasn't THAT bad" or "I don't mind, I find it tolerable" or "You couldn't help yourselves, you were abused as children" or "You'll go to heaven without repentance, because God doesn't send anyone to hell."

That's *not* it at all.

Forgiveness does not replace justice; in fact the widow could forgive the murderers and at the same time state that they deserve to be shot.

But if "Oh, forget about it, let's move on" is what people think forgiveness means, then their conclusion is that she has passively sided with evil. And if that were the case, their indignation would be correct.

"Making sure these folks never kill again is a responsibility."

That is one consideration that tips me toward the death penalty. First, very few prisoners get a life sentence; second, very few who "get" a life sentence actually serve it until death: somehow they manage appeals, resentencing, parole, court-ordered releases to alleviate overcrowding, or even escape; third, even in prison, they are not "out of society," since prison is a society itself, and these guys assault, rape, injure, and kill other convicts, as well as correctional officers, tutors, medical personnel, and other members of the prison "society."

I read somewhere --- and how I wish I could find the source! It was on the Internet, but I've never been able to find it again --- that an average of 500 people are murdered every year, *BY* someone who was already in the past convicted for a previous murder, in California alone!!

The "criminal justice" system is not carrying out is moral mandate. Executions for this kind of horrendous crime should be swift and certain.

And yes, you can sincerely forgive a man who has committed a crime, and execute him.

“Forgiveness does not replace justice; in fact the widow could forgive the murderers and at the same time state that they deserve to be shot.”

Do you remember the woman in Texas who had been sentenced to die and converted?

“Among those who appealed to the State of Texas on her behalf were Bacre Waly Ndiaye, the United Nations commissioner on summary and arbitrary executions; the World Council of Churches; Pope John Paul II; Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi; the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Newt Gingrich; televangelist Pat Robertson; and Ronald Carlson, the brother of Tucker’s murder victim Debbie Thornton.”

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karla_Faye_Tucker#Execution

The parole board refused her request, and GWB refused to intervene. That was one time I agreed with GW Bush. Assuming her conversion was real, it did not change the brutal murders she committed or the need for retribution and the total rejection of her deeds by society.

If she repented and asked God to forgive her, God did. But society needed to punish her for the evil she had done because unlike God, we do NOT know the truth in her soul and we administer LAW, not JUSTICE. Indeed, the biggest perversions of justice come when human judges ignore the law and try to impose justice...

it unless the two thugs truly repent and ask her for it.

dING DING we have a winner. We are not called to hate so most of the vitriol on this thread is disgusting. We are called to forgive... those who ask and repent. But with holding forgiveness for repentance is not the same as being hateful. These two are in no less need of Gods grace than ANY of us.

The appeals process is ridiculous. The guy should have had one appeal then fry him. Instead he got to breath free air for 24 years after the little girl stopped breathing.

If God wants to let him into Heaven, that’s God’s business. Personally if I get to Heaven I think I’ll request the permission to hang around the part where no former evil lives.

I think people have been brain washed on this issue. It is not up to me to forgive my child’s murderer, it is up to my child who the crime was committed against.

Yes, I am the mother of a Murdered Child. 25 yrs ago, not a day goes by I don’t miss him, he was just 16, mentally and physically a 12 year old. Ambushed on his way home from school, just a few hundred yards from our home, over the RR tracks hill. By a sociopath who wanted the jollies to see what it felt like to kill. I fought 6 parole hearings to keep the monster in prison for the far less plea bargained sentence of Murder 1 to Murder 2, median time range of 20 yrs. Including the time he spent in jail prior to the rotten plea deal, I eked out 14.5 yrs of those 20. I was relentless.

As for Niki, my other 2 sons played with her brothers. She was a sweet good Natured little girl, so trusting. Her mom has had 1 nervous break down, and is near the edge of another.

And it chaps my hide we victims have to pay taxes to keep these prisoners in luxury glamor slammers and pay for them to be fed, clothed, medical and educated.

Murder in Memphis, Deborah Groseclose
http://truecrimebookreviews.com/2011/06/murder-in-memphis-dorris-porch-rebecca-easley-deborah-william-groseclose/ This creep hired men to murder his young wife. Let them into the house, while he slipped out with the kids. She was Raped, stabbed, beatened, strangled until she passed out. Stuffed into the trunk of her car, which was then relocated down town, where she is still alive, she COOKED TO DEATH in the 100 + summer temps of Memphis. A anti-death penalty federal judge and 2 state supreme court judges kept blocking the use of the DP. They finally were retried, found guilty again, and given Life WITH parole. There is 1 sick sister left to fight the parole hearings.

I once talked to an old man whose son had been murdered and he forgave the murderer and visited him in prison, even treating him like a son. I asked him “How do you forgive someone who did something like that?”

He said “You don’t. Only God can forgive. You just have to say it. God will take it from the lips to the heart.”

I pray for your peace. I can’t imagine what it is like. And I have to say it would be hard for me to even WANT to forgive.

Yes, you can go on and on - and still miss the point of a woman who has forgiveness in her heart rather than letting hate and bile eat her up. If she were to actually take action, she would be in jail - she has a choice to either let it consume her or rid herself of it.

BTW - what the heck kind of point were you trying to make with Jesus not turning the other cheek? Sounds like you need an interpreter for the Bible and Christianity.

And this is why you do NOT get married (along with a myriad of other reasons). Too many women are shallow and fickle, and really have no more regard for their husband than the family pet. She’ll be married again within the year. No biggie.
