I wonder whether or not the WH actually has a budget the is approved by Congress and if there is any limit. For instance..Congress could cut the budget for AF1 and other air transport services. Make them limit the number of hours per year etc. Why should the WH have unlimited funds for travel and fund raising?
If I remember correctly from the Bush years when the press actually acted as watchdogs, any nonofficial use of AF1, etc is supposed to be reimbursed by the president. So all of the expenses for golf outings and family vacations SHOULD be paid personally by the occupants. I seem to recall that W even paid for the food in the pantry. I can’t imagine that obama is paying for anything, so exposing that may be another plus.
