Dan Borislow, the inventor of magicJack and a pioneer in developing phone calls over the Internet, died Monday, officials at the company he founded said. He was 52.
A spokeswoman for MagicJack Vocaltec Ltd., said he died of a heart attack. In a statement, MagicJack CEO Gerald Vento praised Borislow as a visionary.

The commercials were obnoxious, but I had a friend who called his sister in Tunisia for hours using that one low price - he thought it was a miracle product.
In the early 90s, I remarked to a colleague that the telcos who had been gouging their customers for years for long distance and overseas calls could and should get their comeuppance with the advent of the internet as a worldwide communications medium. The colleague scoffed and said the internet could never replace the telcos’ specific call-by-call, number-by-number, line-by-line routing of voice traffic.
Well, I didn’t become a VOIP tycoon but I was spot on with my prediction. I didn’t like that colleague anyway.
I thought Al Gore invented that, too. /sarc.

it only became a great product when you didn’t have to have a pc attached to it.
If it wasn’t for the latency on my satellite internet, I’d be using it. All voice mails are stored and retrievable as audio files.

According to the newspaper in Palm Beach, Monday night he watched a youth girls soccer team that he coached and sponsored and then later played in an adult men’s soccer league.
Wiki had it as a pick-up soccer game.
If he was such a visionary, why didn’t he see this coming?
I bought one. Waste of money. Sorry he died, though.
I guess we should start banning soccer now because if we can save the life of just one person...etc., etc./s
On the bright side, he exited without needing to access the Death Panels of Obamacare.

That is the liberal mindset, or regulate it so that you need a doctors permission (due to the gov. being responsible for your health under ACA) or be part of a league, they know who is playing, and using the field.
RIP. I’ve used MagicJack for two+ years and am extremely satisfied with it. No problems whatsoever and... it does what it’s supposed to do.
