Rebecca Ehalt may have missed her dog while away in Europe, but it's clear that her pet schnauzer missed her so much that it knocked the poor pooch off her feet — literally.

Ehalt visited her family's home in Pennsylvania earlier this week from Slovenia, where she's currently living, for a wedding reception that her parents had planned for Ehalt and her husband. Upon returning, she reunited with her 9-year-old schnauzer, Casey, whom she hadn't seen in two years.

It's worth watching the video to see the joy of the dog.

Dogs are nicer and more loyal than many people.

I’ve noticed in videos of soldiers being reunited with their dogs that the dogs do that high pitched crying, as if they’d been hit by a car or something.

Actually they are making that sound out of joy, as we see here too.

Oh, I know it’s joy, but it still sounds like pain.

I rescued my cat when she was sick and small enough to fit in the palm of my hand. For the first time in her life at age 12 I spent 30 days traveling. She stayed with my sister who tried to shower her with love and attention, but she spent most of her time on the bed I occupy when I’m there. At week two she sat in the living room and howled inconsolably. So, I was anticipating a joyous reunion. When I arrived she didn’t come out to greet me. I found her on my bed. When she saw me she abruptly turned her head away, pointedly ignoring me. I went to the other side of the bed and sat. She again turned away from me. I hugged and petted her, but she kept her face away from me. Finally, she started purring and let me brush her. She had tears rolling down her face.

The silent treatment from a cat!

We have a black schnauzer who makes a similar squealing when excited. She hasn’t fainted yet though. We love her very much but she’s in her senor years. Don’t know how much longer we’ll be able to enjoy her company. :(

We often got the silent treatment from our cats when we returned home from a trip.

When we took our in 7th stray cat, one of the others decided it was too much for her. She packed up her stuff and moved to the people who lived behind us. For a while after she moved, she would sit in the middle or our back yard with her back to us. When we would call her to come in the house she would run back to the neighbors. She never moved back home.

The saddest tale I can tell is about one of our JRT’s She ate something toxic and her liver was failing, I had signed up for an art workshop and had to leave.

I had done nothing but care for her for the 2 weeks she had been sick, doctors visits and meds. I left a very sick dog for a week.

When I came home the first thing I did was pick her up and hold her in my lap. After about 30 minutes, she took a deep breath and died in my arms.

She waited to die so she could see me one more time, I am convinced of that.

I think she thought you abandoned her and she was upset — but looks like eventually she forgave you. :)

So nice to be ‘appreciated’. “Home so soon?”

Have you heard foxes making whopee in the night? They’re probably shrieks of joy, but it sounds like something is being tortured and killed.

Not so bad. One of mine used to bite me when I returned from occasional 2-day trips.

Yes Tootie loved me and I loved her. She was less than 2 years old when she died. An autopsy after she died agreed with the diagnosis of liver failure. She had eaten an aflatoxin “something moldy” in the back yard. and destroyed her liver. Maybe moldy mulch or a moldy mushroom, no way to know for sure .

Our pet Jack Russell does the same thing at times. Seems almost human, like she is trying to talk.

I absolutely can see that happening. Some cats and dogs have those cantankerous personalities, just like some people. The cat was mad at you for making her miss you.
