'Spider-Man' arrested for slugging cop in Times Square
FoxNews ^ | 7-27-2014

Police said a costumed Bishop "put out his hand and told the woman 5s, 10s or 20s only." Police said the officer told him he could only accept tips — not require payment.

Bishop yelled and cursed at the officer, police said, and told him: "Mind your own (expletive) business."

Police said the officer asked for identification and, when Bishop failed to produce any, moved to arrest him.

Bishop broke free and punched the officer in the face, police said, causing a cut and eye swelling.

The officer, whose name was not released, was treated and released at New York University's Langone Medical Center.

I can’t remember when I have read such a poorly written article. I guess liberalism trumps writing ability in Urnalism school now days.

In my world (which does not exist). I would let this guy off if the story is true as told by the newspaper. I think you should be allowed to swear at cops. And I believe that not having an ID is not a crime and so the cop seems to have arrested him for belligerence, which is unfriendly, but not a crime.

Being handcuffed for unfriendliness is extremely uncomfortable. And its causing him to lose money. Dressing up as Spiderman and posing in Times Square is how some people make money. So the guy goes berserk. This is when I would tell my child to use his words. This guy has issues. Has all of Times Square to watch over. And now has to run to the station with this hot head.

I was in Times Square recently and I just ignored all those costume-wearing clowns. Also, they now have the M&M store and Hershey’s store which are nothing but overpriced tourist traps, with parents dragging their whiny little kids around. I liked TQ better when it was a little seedier.

Sounds like he was shaking down a tourist for bigger “tips”. In my world, which also doesn’t exist, this creep would be worried about retribution from concerned citizens.

If you scream curse words at a cop, you pretty much know what will happen. If you punch a cop in the face, you are definitely in trouble.

It’s true. Neither Yelling at a cop nor punching a cop is a good idea. But lets assume this guy is in the wrong. I don’t want to defend him. Lets look at the cop. He seems to have handcuffed a guy because he did not like him. I think a lot of people go a little nuts the first time they are handcuffed. Its the same as someone being claustrophobic. Your brain really hates being in such a helpless position. So cops should not handcuff people who don’t break the law, ever.

I think you have a combination of a rookie cop and a costumed beggar demanding handouts and over-reacting when the cop told him to play by the rules. Trouble waiting to happen.

If you ask me, Spiderman showed tremendous restraint by not using his webshooter.

Clearly this guy needs to review or watch for the first time Chris Rock’s How not to get your ass kicked by the police.

the rules as per Chris

obey the law
use common sense
stop immediately
turn that shit off
be polite
shut the fuck up
get a white friend
don’t ride with a crazy woman
