The creator of BBC TV series Sherlock has been inundated with fan mail urging him to make the detective and Dr Watson gay lovers. Mark Gatiss admitted he had been overwhelmed with explicit drawings and plotline ideas ahead of the new series starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, due late next year. It follows a running joke in the show which hints the pair might be closer than friends, especially by landlady Mrs Hudson, played by Una Stubbs, 77, who often makes references to their sexuality.

Its all they have. Sad and sick that they are they feel the need to push acceptance on everyone because they know deep down that what they are doing in wrong.
Gross. Good thing I don’t watch this show.
Sick. Just sickening how gays want everything their way but don’t you dare question them because they’ll cry and call it gay bashing.
it’s all they are. they define themselves by their sexual acts. there is very little that differentiates them from the monkeys at the zoo
this is why the world has always rejected them
Sheesh, they can’t leave anything alone.
Next thing you know they’ll be casting aspersions on Batman and Robin.
What, maybe two letters were sent asking for this?
It’s a sick, sick world out there, Toto. Everybody wants to be a sexual deviant. A freak.
The show is phenomenal and this idea makes no sense because it would kill one of the running jokes that has been in almost all nine episodes.
They are not gay. And Watson has said that emphatically. He’s married now, so I don’t know what “fans” are asking for him and Holmes to turn gay.
Yes I do. “Fans” who have never seen the show or whose own choices of sexual expression have to be validated by TV characters making the same choices.
The show has a major following among the gay-obsessed loonbags hipsters on Tumblr.
This is likely where this stupidity originates.
according to gays every historical figure real or fiction was gay since they are no longer here to deny it.
Sherlick and Watscome.
Like with the Lesbos and Xena.
It is a very good show.
It is some fans (questionable how many) who are supposedly asking for this plot change.
I don’t see how it would help the show at all. Even in other such shows if a heterosexual couple get together the show usually goes downhill from there. Even if the characters were gay (which they are not) the plot device of sexual tension between main characters that applies to heterosexual situations would still apply. It would ruin the show for that reason alone.
It's actually a pretty decent show. But if they go that route, I'll never watch another episode.
Recently I reread the complete Sherlock. The notion that Sherlock and Watson were gay lover is absurd and finds no basis in Conan Doyle’s work.
why do we have to introduce homosexuality into every area of life? Why in every movie, TV show, literature?
I remember watching the old Sherlock Holmes with Basil Rathbone. Times being different then, there was no sexual innuendo between Holmes and Watson. The stories were good without it.
Why do you have to introduce a homosexual element into a friendship/partnership between unattached men????
Yep, as somebody else said, will we see this happen with Batman and Robin????
Watson’s wife’s name was Mary Morstan (Sign of the Four). He was apparently a widower when he moved back to Baker Street. Sorry, girls, maybe you can make up a romance with Moriarty.
I wonder if the estate of Arthur Conan Doyle still has any say in whats done with his characters.
I call bullshit!
How does %1 of the population inundate about anything?
Every homosexual watches this show? Everyone of them writes letter about about?
Pure nonsense. Stop with the everything and whole wide world is homosexual crap. It is not.
Don’t ruin a good show.
They won’t be happy until the entire world are all “gay” lovers.
Why don’t they make more of their own? Leave the rest of us alone?
For example, why not make more movies such as “Brokeback”?
Oh, wait, in spite of critical acclaim, “Brokeback” didn’t do so well at the box office.
Hmmm, maybe there isn’t this great demand after all, for homosexual themes in movies and TV shows?????
“Even in other such shows if a heterosexual couple get together the show usually goes downhill from there.”
Yep, just look at “Moonlighting”. The tension was half the fun of the show, once that was gone, it was all downhill.
> Even in other such shows if a heterosexual couple get
> together the show usually goes downhill from there.
I don’t know.
I continued to enjoy Chuck even after he and Sarah developed a real romantic relationship and even married.
How can you tell if an Englishman is gay, anyway?
No, Holmes is long out of copyright, anybody can do whatever they want with the characters now.
Correct. Mainly driven by teenage girls surprisingly. My daughter tells me about this. Teen girls that advocate for homosexual relationships for shows such as Sherlock and Supernatural. I don’t understand why at all.
I have an idea.
Sherlock Holmes stories are detective stories. Holmes is a detective. Watson helps him out in his work.
These characters sex lives have NOTHING TO DO with the underlying plots of them doing detective work.
So, my idea is, let’s leave out any issues of sexuality altogether. Just let them be detectives.
Geez. Can’t wait to see a remake of “Dragnet”.
And we’ll see Joe Friday and Gannon be “gay”. Sheesh.......
Come to think of it, in the ACD stories, Watson marries, as he does in the current BBC series (American, female, ex-CIA assassin...). Now that I think about it, Holmes was having a hookup with a woman in the BBC production as well, not to mention the Irene Adler obsession.
If they do, we’ll stop buying the DVDs or watching the show.
The devil makes them do it.
The queers don’t claim EVERY historical figure. For instance they do not like to acknowledge some of the foremost butch fags of all time-—Adolph Hitler and his inner circle of the NSDAP-—the German Socialist Labor Party.
They also do not currently claim certain DC or Chicago politicians.
I also didn't bother with the Robert Downey, Jr. Holmes.
That would the Billy wilder's The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes. It's recent, if you regard 1970 as recent. You must be as old as I am.
Well, this does put an amusing slant on some of the dialog in the stories. Doyle was fond of using the word "ejaculated" when an explanation burst forth from Watson. A line from narrator Watson would sometimes read "Great Scott!" I ejaculated. I guess the modern Watson would say "Great Scott, I ejaculated!".
As the West falls.
“there is very little that differentiates them from the monkeys at the zoo”
I am not a zoologist nor do I play one on the internet, however, I really don’t think that monkeys are totally focused on sex every waking minute. You, my friend, demean monkeys.
Very sick and very vocal minority.
If you want to kill the show, by all means, have it go gay.
Actually the show is quite good, and as they said it was a running gag because Holmes and Watson lived together and went everywhere together. But just as in the books Watson gets married and Holmes is attracted to a woman. If the plot is changed to make them queer it will be too bad as I and I'm sure many others will stop watching. There is little enough actual entertainment to be found without the queers being inserted for sympathy and social engineering.
sex or poo flinging I believe makes up the majority of their day
tho we test monkeys for their mental capacity... something no one bothers to do with fags or liberals
Is it really asking so much for people to stick with the story and stop putting in politics for the sake of politics?
Watson is already strongly straight. Holmes seems uninterested either way
I hope they don’t turn this into a gay pride series
