Why Sarah Palin launched her own online TV network

Sarah Palin hasn’t held office for five years, but the former Alaska governor’s reach only seems to grow.

The one-time GOP vice presidential nominee has launched her own Internet TV network, named – drumroll, please – The Sarah Palin Channel. It’s a subscription-based service, and she’s charging $9.95 a month or $99.95 a year.

“I want to talk directly to you on our channel, on my terms – and no need to please the powers that be,” Ms. Palin says in a video on the site, which went live Sunday. “Together, we’ll go beyond the sound bites and cut through the media’s politically correct filter.”

I assume that you assume wrong.

At more expensive than Amazon Prime your assumption would appear to be wrong. There’s some serious dolla-dolla-bill potential there, and no having to deal with network brass.

I like the very last sentence in the article; ‘When it comes to making money, ideology takes the back seat!’ So true about 89% of the time.

Also, supposedly unfettered content control.

I’ve been whining about not having conservative only TV stations but the uneducated voter is not going to pay. I will.

But with Amazon Prime, you get much more than Sarah Palin telling you what she thinks. She would have greater impact posting her thoughts on Youtube like everyone else does. By sitting behind a paywall, she’s limiting her audience to her loyal fanbase.

But she’s getting way more money. At least for a while. Eventually this will self limit her audience, much like the move has done to Beck.

I agree. For a long time, the Palin family has been about lining their own pockets....a la Coulter, Beck, Hannity, Limbaugh, et al.

It’s the American way. I don’t fault them.....the brass ring is there...and they went for it.

Because not that many people were interested in seeing more than about an hour of “Sarah Palin’s Alaska”?

Because a lot of disgusted conservatives will never tune in to Glenn Beck’s station again?

So, I guess it’s time for some people to stop printing “Palin in 2016” bumper stickers.

Well, Beck is not limited to being behind a paywall. If your lucky to live in an area that carries him on cable or if you have Dish Network, you don't need to shell out $10/month to see him. In fact, his radio show is available for free and as a podcast.

Beck has made no bones about the fact that he's paid for a lot of what goes on his network out of his own pocket, the subscriptions and advertising help pay for the high production costs.   Sure it looked cheesy in the beginning but you can tell there has been some success in his network just judging from the new studios being built.  Beck has made some stupid statements as of late, but I'm willing to stick it out longer because I see value elsewhere in his network.  I like the news and investigative journalism shows that are on in the evening.  And while the radio side is free of charge, there's a lot of interesting content besides Glenn Beck's show on there as well.

I love Sarah, but I am dubious about this.. She should have jumped in with Glenn Beck on his network. Beck should also hire Jay Leno to do a monthly special

I would love to see Beck kick multi-media butt!

(I know we don’t agree with him 100% but he is certainly on our side)

For all you jurors, she is not hiding behind a paywall. She is trying to break the competition that refuses to properly inform Americans. There is no way she has ever been involved in this for only herself. She has dared to challenge the status quo every chance she gets. It must not be too fun to spend much of your time looking over your shoulder. I support her 100% and so should the majority on this “conserative” site.
