Libya oil-tanker fire blazes out of control

A fire from fuel tanks near Tripoli's international airport that has been ignited by rocket attacks is out of control as clashes between rival militias have resumed in the area, the National Oil Company says.

Six million litres of fuel were set ablaze by a rocket late on Sunday, with the second depot hit on Monday.

"It is out of control. The second tank has been hit and the firefighters have withdrawn from the site as the fighting has resumed in the area", National Oil Company spokesman Mohamed Al-Harrai told Reuters on Monday.

"The situation is very dangerous after a second fire broke out at another petroleum depot," the government said, warning of a "disaster with unforeseeable consequences".

The Libyan government earlier appealed for "international help" fighting the blaze amid heavy fighting that the Libyan government said has killed more than 150 people in Tripoli and Benghazi during two weeks of fighting.

A statement posted to the government's website on Monday warned of a "humanitarian and environmental disaster" after fighting between rival militias over the country's international airport caused the inferno.

Officials said that firefighters sent to the scene had been unable to put out the fire, AFP reported.

Obama broke Libya with his 2011 war, and the news media refuses to make him own it...

Hillary Clinton, October 2011: "We came, we saw, he died," she joked when told of news reports of Qaddafi's death by an aide in between formal interviews.

Yea - big joke.....

“Barry, Linda and Johnnie Mac’s Libyan escapade has come crashing down.”

Meanwhile, the average sheeple has no idea what is happening, since Lebron’s Twitter account and the Daily Show won’t mention it, out of fear of making Obama look bad.

Bammy and Hilly B ash holes. Momo (although an awful dictator) was at least settled on semi-good terms with the US.
Jerkwad Admin sided with the rebels who are far worse than just have leaving Momo alone to have fought the internal battles there without us giving his enemies help. Plus 4 dead Americans needlessly in Benghazi. Now the rebels are our enemies and always were. Epic FAIL— or success by Obamination of Desolation.

The potential of this is potentially earth-shattering. With chaos, what's to stop the spread of Ebola into Libya? And from there, with all of refugees leaving for Italy, what's to stop it from spreading into Italy? Besides which, this is another vacuum with US weapons in rebel hands. What's to stop ISIS from filling the void? Add to that the destruction of Gaza, and that's a whole lot of access to the Med.

How close to totally out-of-control is the global situation? The US is TOTALLY responsible. Funding rebels to oust stable regimes and blur national borders makes it impossible to maintain civilization.

Ebola usually takes care of that by itself.

This appears to be an oil TANK fire, and not a TANKER fire. Is that correct. I’ve seen several outlets refer to a TANKER fire.

Even an oil truck isn’t called a tanker. Ships built to carry crude and other petroleum products are called tankers.

Not picking nits, just want to figure out what’s going on.
