Remember How Happy We Were 20&30 Years Ago.Did Anyone See This World Crisis Coming?

Posted on 07/28/2014 4:24:15 PM PDT by Cruz_West_Paul2016

Think back to 1984 and 1994.You got to admit they were some of the best days of our lives. In 1984,we had President Reagan, the dawn of wonderful 80's,for many who are now in their 40's,50's&60's.It was their happiest times. And the good times just kept on coming with the Bush/Clinton years. The 90's were a never ending party, great economy, great music&memorable Presidential Scandals.Who wouldn't give up Pizza&Burgers to go back to either decade and Stay There! And here we are 20/30 years later and who would of ever thought they would see the day when we had a {Fill In The Blank}As President of the United States who would intentionally tank our economy while the World Is On Fire.

Meh.
I never had, nor never would, go back even an hour, let alone a year or a decade. Glorying in the past is for whiners and losers. I won’t even associate with anyone who doesn’t think the best of both our lives and this nation is ahead of us. Losers have been whining about the good old days since the Roman Republic.
Just a cranky, KMA .02 cents worth.
my best is ahead of me, anyone who can’t hang with that is part of the problem, not the solution.

The demographics were different then too. The change has had an impact on political demographics and the direction of the country. Sadly, we ain’t going back.

My golden years were when Eisenhower was the big man.

There’s nothing like the 50’s, but I will say that I really enjoyed the 80’s. The kids had their own style and identity. Computers and technology was really picking up steam. And after the Carter fiasco, Ronnie bridged the gap between youth and maturity to swing the pendulum towards conservatism, fiscally and politically.

Good times!

No, I never saw this coming.

What I didn't understand was the absolute blind, insane fury to which Reagan drove The Left.

I didn't realize that - in the highest councils of The Left - the decision had been made: "If things continue on this trajectory, we're doomed. The only solution is to change the demographics of the United States, permanently."

I agree with the good times. BUT, I entered University in 1988 and the warning lights were on. It was just a long slow slide to where we are today. But the signs were evident.

The conservative university I went to was very much into de-constructing everything that was america. The Bush years were about making government bigger in spite of the Reagan heritage inherited by Bush I.

Clinton was elected. Hitlery was tolerated.

I did. I thought if we get many more Howard Metzenbaums or Patrick Leahys that we would be doomed.

Even back then, I knew something was wrong. It was undeniable in the 1970’s that the country was on a trajectory to self destruction. It was all laughtracks and Johnny Carson poking fun at it, but we were whistling past the graveyard.

The other day they showed President Reagan’s response the the Soviet’s shooting down of KAL 007. The contrast between Reagan and anyone we have had since him was rather startling. I had forgotten what it was like to have a leader I was confident in. It was almost painful to watch. I thought of how much a better the world was with Reagan in the White House, Thatcher on Downing Street, John Paul in the Vatican, and even Gorbachev in the Kremlin.

Nothing wrong about thinking about good times. I often look back and muse on the great way I felt about my country then.

I am often sad anymore. The hate is overpowering. Some of the littlest things get so much hate. I look at the very young and feel sad because I don’t believe their future will be so good. Trouble is, many have no idea of the mess that lies ahead.

I think we all knew this could happen but we hoped it wouldn’t happen in our lifetime.

I have good times talking with my over 80 going on 90 parents. I still enjoy their company. I have been blessed with that.

I can still remember working a private party, new years eve,1999.There was nothing to cheer about. The fact that the 90’s were coming to an end had me in misery.I had gotten so used to the way of life we all had back then,I dreaded having to see it all come to an end.God I Miss Seinfeld!

“I was born in a welfare state, ruled by bureaucracy

Controlled by civil servants and people dressed in gray

Got no privacy, got no liberty

Took it all away from me”

Great American muscle cars of the 60s and 70s. Fantastic music pre-80s (rock, pop, soul, country). Truly funny and creative TV shows of the 60s and part of the 70s. Classic Westerns and Sci-Fi films of the 50s, 60s & 70s. Hilarious and smartly written cartoons: Loony Tunes, Popeye, etc.

One can be forgiven for being stupid when drunk, and hopefully you will be better tomorrow.

Having read prophecies by catholic saints and holy people, I have been aware of this for quite a long time. I used to tell people the prophecies about Islam gaining in strength and invading into and destroying Europe. Some laughed at me for it. Doesn’t seem so far fetched now does it?

Hang on, it’s going to get worse. Russia will attack Europe, Islam and the arab nations will attack Israel and WW3 will kick off. So the prophecies say.
