Remember How Happy We Were 20&30 Years Ago.Did Anyone See This World Crisis Coming?

Posted on 07/28/2014 4:24:15 PM PDT by Cruz_West_Paul2016

Think back to 1984 and 1994.You got to admit they were some of the best days of our lives. In 1984,we had President Reagan, the dawn of wonderful 80's,for many who are now in their 40's,50's&60's.It was their happiest times. And the good times just kept on coming with the Bush/Clinton years. The 90's were a never ending party, great economy, great music&memorable Presidential Scandals.Who wouldn't give up Pizza&Burgers to go back to either decade and Stay There! And here we are 20/30 years later and who would of ever thought they would see the day when we had a {Fill In The Blank}As President of the United States who would intentionally tank our economy while the World Is On Fire.

Nope. I wouldn't go back. These are the best years of my life and I wouldn't trade them for anything. I have a wonderful wife, two wonderful sons, ages 5 and 3, a great job, money in the bank, good credit, good health and a good piece of mind. I bought my first home almost three years ago and just last weekend I bought my first ever new car. Yep. Life is pretty good for ol' Drew68.

My personal happiness and success is not dependent on who sits in the White House.

As far as the world being on fire? Personally, I don't really care what flag flies over Ukraine.

“Glorying in the past is for whiners and losers”

One can be forgiven for being stupid when drunk, and hopefully you will be better tomorrow.

Accepting and/or embracing the shameful present is for losers.

I’d like to go back to the 80s.

The 90s were the beginning of the end — very discouraging for those who saw at the time, and understood.

Your post echoes my own feelings. I try to be optimistic about America, but I do not see enough of what my parents and grandparents had: a desire to assimilate into the greater American culture, ethics of self-reliance and hard work and a general kindness toward others. There has been a pandemic of selfishness and anger in our culture. You see it in the mainstreaming of welfare and the massive abuse of "safety net" programs. You experience it driving on public roads. And then there's the well of narcissism called social media. I could go on.

Liberals have made great strides in pushing God out of the public square and filling that space with government and its bread and circuses. I don't see us overcoming that easily, if at all.

and who doesn’t miss the good old days when gas was ranging between 1.00 and 1.50 a gallon.

for many of us,who knew we were living what was going to be a great decade?it took till the early 90’s to realize how wonderful the 80’s was. I didn’t click with me till about 88/89.And the same with the 90’s.I really didn’t start appreciating those times till the end(1999).at least Prince probably made a million on new years eve.

So true. 25 years ago I would have bet my life savings that today could never happen here in the USA.

The Communist Party hijacks the Dems and gets a Muslim Marxist elected and in 5 short year effects a fundamental transformation of our entire culture.

Every agency of our government is totally rogue at this point. Pay to play is the game from top to bottom. If you want to get anywhere you have to be from the right political spectrum. Everything is for sale and nobody every gets held accountable.

Glorying in the past is for whiners and losers.

How about those groveling in fantasy, like your tag line suggests?

I never had, nor never would, go back even an hour, let alone a year or a decade. Glorying in the past is for whiners and losers. I won’t even associate with anyone who doesn’t think the best of both our lives and this nation is ahead of us. Losers have been whining about the good old days since the Roman Republic.

Well, I guess you're just fine with a president who is turning our country irretrievably left, a popular culture increasingly dominated by homosexuals, illegal aliens flooding the country, a "conservative opposition" led by supine cowards, unlistenable "popular music," dumbed-down school curricula, political correctness, and policemen who get their kicks killing family dogs. Yeah, the times we live in are just ducky!

Think back to 1984 and 1994.

Crap. The country has been a shithouse since Roe v. Wade (1972).

Yes. Radio talk show hosts like Bob Grant, Paul Harvey, etc. and groups like Middle America News and Samuel T. Francis and Pat Buchanan have been talking about the immigration time bomb for 40 or more years.

California was a Republican state. The demographics are against conservatives and leftists are accelerating it penalizing workers and wealth creators.

I couldn’t imagine a day when an American would flee to Russia for freedom after exposing a U.S. government illegal spy program. That’s a shocker.

It was certainly better 20 years ago than it is today, but I have to say yes, I did see it coming. I very distinctly remember a conversation I had with a coworker 25 years ago about how it would become illegal to teach your kids that homosexuality is wrong, and that if you did, your kids would be taken away from you because of “psychological abuse”. He said it would never happen. I told him that it would be people like him who would turn me in. He was very offended. Interestingly, the priest he was so fond of was removed from active ministry several years later for .... Well, you know. I wonder what he would say today.

I learned about the end times and always wondered how so many Christians were going to be beheaded. Now I know. The only thing that surprised me is the recent acceleration but 2013 was 40 years of child sacrifice.

irretrievably left

The next time that you write that our country has moved irretrievably somewhere, start your sentence all over again and say something different because you know the first try has to be incorrect. There isn't any room for irretrievably in the future of a great nation.

What do you mean? Government has caused irreparable damage to this country, which has and will continue to compromise and undermine even our electoral process.

I can explain it to ya if you’d like.

I didn’t write that our country had moved irretrievably to the left, I wrote that our president is trying to accomplish that. And he doesn’t have far to go. Virginia, North Carolina and Colorado, once solid bastions of conservatism, are now solidly “blue.” Once Texas goes “blue,” the White House will be irretrievable for conservatives.
