Some Global Warming Would Be Nice
My Outdoor Thermometer | 29 July 2014 | Steely

Posted on 07/29/2014 6:08:36 PM PDT by Steely Tom

I just thought I would point out - as a matter of curiosity - that here we are, at the end of July, about to go into August, and the temperature at my house (in upstate New York) is at present 51° F.

When I was growing up in this same neck of the woods, we would typically have a week or so of temperatures above 90° right about now, and a few times would go over 100°, at least for a day or two.

Also interesting to note that - at this very moment - "AccuWeather" is saying that the temperature at my house is 69° F, a full eighteen degrees hotter than the actual temperature.

Would not be surprised if we get another frigid winter.
76/77/78 was a cold stretch that could repeat.

I wish I was there!

This entire week here in Virginia will vary from 79 degrees to around 84.....several degrees lower than the average for July, but still too warm for me. I love chilly weather.

Very common during winters around tourist areas on the Rockies.

Wasn't Obama going to launch a big new "in your face" Anti-Global-Warming campaign this summer?

This after he said he was going to launch one at the beginning of last summer.

Trying to get ready for 40 below or worse here—maybe 50 below or worse 3 or 4 years from now. The cold wasn’t too bad last winter, but the spraying ice piled higher than the fences in places.

Yes. My Virginia experience included an introduction to chiggers.

I had dinner in north Houston and the evening is absolutely beautiful. If this is climate change, I’m good with that.

I spent the summer of 2011 in North Creek, NY. It was no vacation, trust me... anyways, I recall a couple nights in late July when the overnight low was in the mid 40s.

Interesting point. I'm a bit of a weather geek and I have a few wireless weather devices on my property. "AccuWeather" has been consistently wrong in their measurements here. Joe Bastardi has commented on this before.

Their monitoring has become worse over the last year and is off by at least 6 degrees for their highs on a daily basis. Sometimes it is much worse. Their lows are all over the place.

I wonder if these temperatures they use are recorded as official for data purposes. They have to know the readings are in error. This would lead one to believe they are either incredibly incompetent or politically motivated.

Like everything else, liberals destroy everything they touch. The truth is always the first victim.

They're awful.

Lately we've had house centipedes getting in. Believe me, you don't want them around.

Tell me about the chiggers. Just rubbed some Calagel on the ankles.
Can’t go in the grass here in central TX without off, sulphur powder and long pants for protection.
By the way, very mild summer here! High tomorrow below 85*.
