Did someone say bowling? I hope to finally hit a 300 before I depart. Four times I’ve taken it to the 10th, one of which was to the second ball in the tenth frame. I have watched my best client bowl 300 and 299.

HOW HAMLIN'S PENALTY STACKS UP HISTORICALLY

After NASCAR officials discovered a "possible issue with several rear firewall block-off plates" at Indianapolis on Denny Hamlin's No. 11 car... Hamlin was docked 75 points in the drivers' standings and 75 points in the series' owners championship standings. In addition, Grubb was suspended for the next six Sprint Cup Series events and fined $125,000. Sherrill was also issued a six-race suspension. Both Grubb and Sherill will be on NASCAR probation for the next six months.

Looks like it is the second most serious penalty.

GUSTAFSON: PENALTIES FOR NO. 11 TEAM 'HUGE'

"As far as the severity of it, yeah, anytime you see those kinds of penalties, it's like, 'Wow, that's huge.' It gets your attention; it's something you definitely think about."

CARL EDWARDS: 'I HAVE A DEAL MOVING FORWARD'

"My deal is worked out," Edwards said. "I have a deal moving forward. I can't announce it yet. When all of those pieces come together, it'll be announced. We'll talk about it.

Greg Ives to crew chief Earnhardt in 2015

Greg Ives, who was shipped over to Earnhardt's Nationwide Series team at the end of 2012 to gain his first experience as crew chief, was chosen Wednesday as Letarte's replacement with NASCAR's most popular driver. Letarte will move to an analyst role with NBC Sports and Ives will move from JR Motorsports to crew chief for Earnhardt.

''Not only is he the most talented candidate for the job, but it will be the most seamless transition,'' Earnhardt said Wednesday. ''I don't see how it couldn't go any smoother, being that he has that past history and understanding of the building.

Zest Returns with Roush Fenway

Roush Fenway Racing today announced that it has extended its partnership with Zest and the No. 17 Ford driven by Ricky Stenhouse Jr. into the 2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season. Zest first joined Roush Fenway in 2012 and has served as a primary partner on the No. 17 Ford in NSCS competition the past three seasons. The company will again serve as a primary for Stenhouse for multiple races in 2015, as well as a season-long associate for the No. 17 entry.

2014 NASCAR Television Ratings

The Indianapolis market saw a big increase: from 13.8 last year to 15.0 this year. The national number wasn't so kind to IMS and NASCAR. There was a decrease in overnight rating, from 3.4 last year to 3.2 this year. Last year's final national rating was 3.6. That information will be available Tuesday.(Indianapolis Star).(7-29-2014)

UPDATE: ESPN's live telecast of the Brickyard 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Sunday, July 27, earned a 3.4 U.S. rating, averaging 5,196,000 viewers, according to Nielsen Media. The rating and viewership were down from the 2013 race, which earned a 3.6 rating and averaged 5,460,000 viewers, but were up from 2012, when the telecast earned a 3.3 rating and averaged 5,055,000 viewers. Indianapolis led the nation's metered markets with a 15.0 rating, up from a 13.7 rating last year, while Greenville/Spartanburg/Asheville was second with a 9.4 rating. North Carolina's Greensboro/High Point/Winston-Salem market was third nationally with an 8.7 rating while Charlotte and Richmond tied for fourth at 7.7. The rest of the nation's top 10 markets for the race were Louisville, 6.9; Nashville, 6.5; Birmingham and Raleigh-Durham, 6.3; and Tampa/St. Petersburg and Orlando, 5.5. ESPN's live telecast of Saturday's NASCAR Nationwide Series race at IMS earned a 1.3 rating, averaging 1,988,000 viewers. Viewership was up over last year's race, which averaged 1,913,000 viewers with a 1.4 rating.(ESPN)(7-29-2014)

Gordon approaching some records

Starting with his Cup debut in the final race of the 1992 season, #24-Jeff Gordon hasn't missed a race in 22 years. At Indianapolis on Sunday, he started his 745th straight event. Assuming Gordon stays in the seat of the #24 Chevrolet in every race through the 2015 season, he will break Ricky Rudd's series-record 788 consecutive starts in the 28th race next year.

Gordon led 40 laps on Sunday, bringing his career total to 23,949, sixth most all-time. If he drives for two more seasons beyond the current one, he has a realistic shot at leading 25,000 laps, perhaps catching the next driver on the list, Pearson, who racked up 25,159 laps led. Richard Petty led the most with 51,380.(NASCAR Wire Service)(7-29-2014)

Good Morning Race Fans!

Thought I would ping before I ran out to do things, otherwise I always “forget” and ping when the race has started!

We had a quite successful fantasy qualifying run this week. Go Kyle Larson!

Hope that we get a race on today - weather.com moisture forecast has green to yellow just west of the track area, very ominous looking by 3 or so ET.

Episodes of rain, thunderstorms and mist will threaten to cause delays and postponements of racing activities at Long From Pond, Pennsylvania, this weekend.
http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/long-pond-pa/18610/weather-forecast/2181710

According to AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Dave Dombek, “A very unsettled weather pattern is setting up shop along the Atlantic Seaboard into Sunday.”

The green flag is set to drop for Sunday’s Sprint Cup race at 1:18 p.m. EDT at Pocono Raceway, sometimes called the Tricky Triangle.

OK, I think I’m back to “Abby Normal” so here’s the AM News:
************************************************************

ALERT!!!: BLOOMIN’ MONDAY @ OUTBACK DUE TO HARVICK’S 2ND PLACE FINISH.

Earnhardt, Jr. wins at Pocono: #88-Dale Earnhardt, Jr. won the GoBowling.com 400 Sprint Cup Series race at Pocono Raceway for his 3rd win of the season, 2nd win at Pocono [both coming this year], and 22nd career win.

Edwards’ crew member hurt during pit stop: Ryan McCray, the 16-year veteran front tire carrier for the #99 Roush Fenway Racing Ford, was taken to the infield care center at Pocono Raceway. McCray’s fingers on his left hand were pinched between the wheel and brake caliper while changing the left front tire on the first pit stop during the third caution of the race on Lap 31. Mike Lingerfelt, the front tire changer of the #99 team, explained the incident to his peer Michael Hicks, the rear tire changer on the #11 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota. “I tightened his fingers up between the wheel and brake caliper on the LF. I feel really bad about it. But @RyanMcCray99 is tough!” Matt Rawling, who is the tire carrier for the #16 RFR Nationwide Series team and a development crewmen on the #34 Front Row Motorsports Ford, filled in for McCray. Following the race, McCray tweeted: “Gotta thank everyone 4 picking up my slack today while I was watching the race in a comfy bed in the care center especially @MattyIceRacer”. McCray was treated and released from the infield care center at Pocono. He is expected to follow up with further medical evaluation when he returns to North Carolina.(Motorsport)(8-4-2014)

Remember “Laugh In” and the “fickle finger of fate?” That finger has been doing bad things to my team for 4 weeks now. a 76 year old driver takes out Logano. JPM takes out Menard. Denny takes out 13 and did ya notice he didn’t get banged up?

Didn’t watch the (recorded) race til it was well over as we like to wrap up the weekend with family, meal and race. Perhaps if I lived in Long Pond and the race were in Bend Oregon we’d be watching it live.

The beer cooler at JR's House.

I have had some long nights. But I've never seen the bottom of this cooler.

A quick wipe w/ a bleach rag and it’s ready to restock. Compared to 99% of the beer coolers I’ve seen that is Sterile as it sits!
