Dysfunctional Authority
The Relevant Christian Magazine ^ | July 31, 2014 | Michael Thomas

American society is currently in a dysfunctional state, and like all things dysfunctional, it will implode if not addressed very soon. We live in a world that contains a vast amount of knowledge, but little understanding. The United States has not experienced extreme tyranny, but it is headed in that direction. The shift of authority from private sector to public sector has created a serious imbalance. As a country, there is great arrogance. We take for granted that we will always be the land of the free. Like all civilizations prior, we’re moving from liberty to totalitarianism and it’s happening in plain sight.

The transformation is not covert, as it does not have to be. We’re unable to recognize the change because we are no longer taught the fundamental principles of liberty and freedom. Unlike prior generations, we no longer understand nor respect the power of authority and its influence on liberty and tyranny. America is dysfunctional and therefore broken because its overall authority is out of order.

The word functional, contrary to dysfunctional, means that all of the underlying components of something work or operate in a proper or particular way. The various components of an analog clock must all work together in the proper way in order to produce the correct time. When one of those parts fails, slightly or completely, the clock no longer functions as intended. It either stops or drifts. American government is no different from that analog clock. It’s made up of various levels of government, constitutions, declarations, taxes, political processes, representation and authority. In order to create the best conditions that could produce the most liberty, freedom, peace, prosperity and overall abundance throughout society, its various components must also function as intended. The Founders of America pieced together a well-oiled system of

I found this on a site that where another article posted on freerepublic sent me to. I think this guy does an excellent job of explaining how the rule of authority as set down by God has been flipped to be the opposite of what should be.

This is the first time I ever posted an article, so forgive me if I did it wrong.

I am but 15 Months old as freeper years go, so if I did this wrong please let me know. I am willing to learn.

Government was established to protect our God-given rights and punish those who infringe upon them. We should neither look to nor depend on government to be our provider or surrogate savior.

Limited government is the Christian position.

I would argue we haven’t, but if the Republicans continue to be against impeaching Obama, we will soon enough.

You think we have already, I’ll argue that you don’t know what tyranny is.

Take a trip overseas to N Korea, or some Middle East countries, there are any of a number of countries you can visit that will show you what tyranny is.

If Obama is allowed to continue his ways, I worry about the tyrant who will follow him that will make him look like what Obama has made Clinton look who has made carter look.

Imagine how bad the next Democrat president will be if they allow Obama to continue what he does.

romney eluded to the 47% and then withdrew his assertion. romney was correct and should not have withdrawn. Should have taken it one step further and told the truth about that forty seven percent. The 47% will support anything that will give the 47% percent what they think they are entitled to. The 47% would support a dictatorship if they thought they would receive their goodies. The 47% would ride the train to the chambers willingly accepting being gassed if they thought the train ride was taking them to their goodies. The 47% point should have been driven home but was not. Therefore the 47% won. They (the 47%) will never wake up till the goodie train is halted. Then that 47% will take to the streets to take what is yours. Is called chaos and pure violence. At this time America has a form of controlled chaos without much violence because the handing out of goodies but the violence will rear its ugly head. The control of violence via throwing money at the problem is ‘unsustainable’! Our politicians are counting on it (violence raising its ugly head) because then more controls can be placed willingly on a willing population. The 47% will ride the train willingly and the government is worried about the TEA not cooperating only because the TEA works, reads their Bibles and has firearms. Darn that 2nd Amendment! Our politicians hate the 2nd. As obama and all politicians say ... Governing was supposed to be easier than this.

I agree. When we began allowing the tail to wag the dog, it was just a matter of time before the rule of law went away and the end of the Republic will soon follow.

The author of the article understands how a human society functions--or does not function. The only error is in this statement: "American society is currently in a dysfunctional state, and like all things dysfunctional, it will implode if not addressed very soon."

The writer fails to see that what has made our society progressively dysfunctional is & has been addressed by the Federal Administration, which has been aggressively seeking what you, I and the writer deplore.

Consider the increasing Federalization of inherently local concerns--health care (as it relates to individual needs), education of individual children--for clear examples. These, as also the "safety-net ("Welfare") are not functionally addressed by layering multiple levels of bureaucracy over every problem.

The Administration's every action related to the immigration problem is clearly directed towards flooding American communities with individuals who will destroy community cohesion & continuity. The "immigrants" are being used by the Administration as pawns. This is patently intentional, however a mass media, thoroughly brainwashed in the idiocy that people are interchangeable, chooses to ignore the obvious reality.

You mention God & rules of authority having been flipped. Indeed, in a sense, the Administration is engaged in a collectivist/humanist effort to embrace an ideological equivalent to Nimrod's egotistical over-reach in Genesis by A Return To Babel.

Again, what is going on right now, is a deliberate reflection of a long-term attack on the political/economic/social & spiritual culture of rooted Americans. And time is running out on all the once well understood virtues of the once free people being targeted.

The authority, to which you refer, may also be evil; but it is also certainly dysfunctional.

The layering of bureaucracy in all sorts of areas of political concern is certainly not authorized by the Constitution, to uphold which all Federal Office holders are solemnly sworn; but in addition to being legally wrong, it is also just plain stupid, from the standpoint of what is functional.

In recognizing one vice, you do not offer a reason for denying another.

Consider the increasing Federalization of inherently local concerns . . .

??

Federal refers to the states. Articles of Confederation. Confederate States of America.

The term Federal Government itself became a misnomer after 1913. It is used today entirely out of habit and nothing else.

"Federalization" refers to the taking of functions from the States to the agency they created in 1787-1789. What was delegated in the Constitution was actually functional. What has been happening in recent decades is not. Layering bureaucracy from Washington over functions retained by the States & local communities, is functionally analogous to pouring sand into an engine.

Consider, for example of just how stupid this process is, Jefferson's description of how "Welfare" worked in the newly independent Virginia: Jefferson On Welfare.

No, it doesn't. You are misleading Freepers.

The taking of state functions by the one or the few can be described by several different terms. Federal isn't one of them. The Anti-Federalists of 1787-1789 used "consolidation."

Federal refers to things that pertain to the "Federal" Government--what the States that agreed to Federate, set up. The Constitution is the only legal basis for that Government. It has no authority but for the Constitution.

So, I am not suggesting that what has been happening is legal, or entitled to moral respect--or is a "consolidation"; but it has given the Federal Government additional jobs to do, illegally. And unless the Courts or someone stops it, it will continue to create "Federal" agencies, in addition to those intended by the Federating sovereigns in 1789. (These take the practical immediate effect of layering Federal job holders over legitimate State & local agencies. Obamacare & "No Child Left Behind" are examples. The Constitution gave the Federal Government no role whatsoever in either civilian education or civilian health care--None!

Tyranny is a matter of degree.

To destroy a free country in 5 years is extreme tyranny.

That is what Obama has done.

I'll argue that you are self-absorbed and hopeful that some Freepers will find you aware and interesting. And they might.

Obama is the greatest tyranny that America has faced so far.

But let's insert your ego into this equation.

So you think we need the taxes at the rate they are/ I say we can do without 80% of the government we have and reduce the taxes on Americans by 90% to take care of the 20% the government has a right to run.

You are obviously an idiot if you think we need taxes at the rate we have.
