Watched an episode of Top Gear where Captain Slow took one of those to [IIRC] top speed @ the VW track. What got me was they stated the car would go through a tank of fuel in a short matter of minutes at that velocity. And I thought I was thirsty...

I saw that one. Didn’t he hit like 254 mph?

26 gallon (US) tank. That’s some serious guzzling.

I thought it was two-60-something, but it’s been a while. I’d fear tire failure. Saw Hammond’s accident with that jet dragster. [Shudder]

Yet, you can’t use all that top-end speed in the real world. For all that dough it makes one wonder how kind of a pavement-wrinkling sub-3 second 0-60 monster one might commission...

What tires were you using?
There weren’t many tires even available back then with V rating and that was only for 149.

I was passed by a black Bentley a couple of times here in MA. It feels like a land shark is coming up from behind you.
I saw a special on the manufacturing process. The engines are tested by being run for 24 hours at 200 mph.

“Mark Hennessy recently ran a Corvette down it at 200 mph.”
That was on the Grand Parkway in Houston

If I won the big lottery (is there a big jackpot this week?), hopefully I can actually buy a ticket this week... I would definitely seriously consider it. If it’s small it could be a FReeper R&R retreat.

What ever was on the car when I got it...
I didn’t say it was a smart thing to do.
