Sarah Marie Schulzetenberg Harkins, 32, died at the hospital when an aneurysm in her brain burst, Harkins’ husband told Fredericksburg.com. Her unborn baby, who was to be named Cecilia Rachel, also passed away.

The aneurysm burst due to the stress the stings and an allergic reaction brought on, the article stated.

Harkins was a dedicated wife, mother and active member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Fredericksburg, her online obituary read.

“She recently initiated a women’s bible study for the parish home-school mothers,” it stated. “While home schooling her own children, she created a Montessori-style preschool program for the local home schooling co-op. She also ran a home business of designing handcrafted clay rosaries and jewelry, which sold worldwide. As a faithful volunteer at Mary’s Shelter crisis pregnancy center, she donated her handmade jewelry for fundraising events.”

In the days following after her death, friends, family and strangers have donated more than $100,000 to two funds set-up to assist her husband Eric and four children, seven-year-old Liam, five-year-old Analee, three-year-old Jude and one-year-old Mary Faustina. Mary was born with Down Syndrome.

What a beautiful family. Looks like they could use some spiritual and financial help.

Help me with the math here. Her unborn child died, and she left behind four living children. Isn’t that five? They said she was a mother of four. She was a mother of five, right? Or did I do the math wrong? 4+1=___.

If you were a liberal it would be 4, if a pro-life
it would be 5.

Brain aneurysms are usually undetectable and untreatable.

A lovely Hispanic family that were really good friends of ours in NM had a really great set of twins, boy and girl. Intelligent, attractive, courteous. Just great kids. 14 years old.

One morning, the boy didn’t come down for breakfast. Mom went up to wake him, but he was stone-cold in bed.

An aneurysm nobody had been aware of had ruptured in his sleep. Very sad, but the autopsy indicated there would have been no way, at the time anyway, to treat it even if they’d known it was there. So in a way not knowing was a blessing to the family. At least he didn’t have to live his life with this hanging over him.

We lost a 35 year old gal in our office in January, to brain aneurysm. She had some surgery in November, then had unbearable headaches, had been back and forth to her doctor, the ER, a neurologist. The weekend before she died, she went to the ER 3 times, and they kept sending her home. Very sad.

“...by wasps working in her backyard.”

I wonder what they were doing?

My father is a retired neurosurgeon and successfully treated many patients with aneurysms. Some were inoperable due to their location, but many were clamped and the patients livedlong, healthy lives.

The problem is that they usually are undetected (asymptomatic)and burst without warning, leading to death. If the aneurysm presses against the brain, it may cause severe headaches or other symptoms and may be detected and treated.

Prayers up for all in their family, including 5 children (yes, I am a pro-lifer).

Could have been me.

I was bit by wasps outside ... Got 15- 20 stings that laid me out flat, unable to move. I was, however, conscious long enough before I collapsed to have called a neighbor, who called 911 and the EMTs.

Wasps and hornets are quite aggressive. Thank goodness your neighbor was there.
