Ten years ago America met a guy named Barack Obama
Washington Post ^ | 7-28-2014 | Jaime Fuller

Sunday marked the 10th anniversary of President Obama's national debut at the Democratic National Convention. He was tasked with giving the keynote address at the 2004 event.

He told a New York Times reporter the week before the convention, ''It came as a surprise that I'd be selected for such a privileged position. As my wife reminds me, I better not screw it up.''

I remember watching that.

His wife and kids were on stage. I could not get over just how absolutely livid and pissed off she looked the entire time.

I’m always been proud of myself for this:

I was watching Obama’s DNC speech in 2004, but when he got to the part where he spewed out all the nonsense about:

Not red states and blue states, but the United States. Not black American and White american, but one America, etc., etc., ...

or however all that Utopian nonsense went. When he got into all that, I turned off the television because he was spewing a lot of Utopian nonsense that had nothing to do with the reality of a free society where people have individual freedoms and rights to criticize their government. And there will always be disagreements and divisions in free societies.

The closest societies to what Obama was blathering about were Stalin’s USSR and Mao’s China and a few others. That’s the only place you can have all the ‘unity’ and absence of disagreement.

I knew I’d been listening to a hyper-leftist, Utopia spewing liar and he’s been making me look very wise every since that night. Unfortunately for the nation.

I know I retired opera singer here in Germany who speaks four or five languages beautifully whom I once asked whether he had any problems or fears about remembering the words to a song that he was about to perform. He said no it never was a consideration, he never had the slightest problem or doubt. I suppose that had something to do with this wonderful facility with languages together with his ability to capture tone as a musician which he possessed also in spoken language.

I was all the more awed by his talents because I am utterly incapable of singing any song, I cannot carry a tune, I cannot remember the words and I have no inclination to do either. I was the only child in the seventh grade who was instructed by the music teacher to mouth the words when the parents came for the actual recital. I do not listen to music radio, I listen to talk radio and have done so long before Rush Limbaugh came on the scene.

So when I heard Barack Obama make his early speeches and then gave due attention to the pundits as they explained to me afterwards what I had just seen with my own eyes, I was convinced that here was another example of my tone deafness. I just did not get it, which means I did not get Barack Obama. I still do not. I am uniquely immune to the power of his forensic performance.

Immune to his histrionics I was free to search for substance but found none and so my reaction to the early exposures to Barack Obama was that he was no threat, meaning that he could not be nominated and if nominated he could not be elected. I recite all this so that the reader is never again attempted to put any weight in my judgment about how well or poorly candidates fare in debates, a subject which I unabashedly feel fully capable of pontificating upon and often do so at great length.

I still do not know whether I was again morbidly tone deaf or whether I was on the mark and it was the media that created the myth around the man.

Back in 2007 one of the smartest guys I know told me “the American people will never vote in a guy from Kenya named Hussein”.

In 2012 I posted on FR “the American people will never re-elect a POTUS with 8% unemployment (13% real), $4 gas, surging food prices, and trillion dollar deficits to the endo of time”

We were both badly underestimating the power of the Chicago Mob.

What else would you expect from gibmedats who are given free food, housing, healthcare, cell phones, etc...without having to work whose only real concern is where they get their next high? They don’t pay attention to what’s really going on and they don’t peel the onion back to see the lies like we do. All they do is take the MSM’s assurances that 0 is doing “great and believe their lies. We pay a lot more attention because we’re the ones that are footing the bill. I hope the MSM gets the payback they deserve when no one listens to them anymore because they are proven to be liars and their advertising revenue dries up.

I worked as a TV Tech Director at the 2008 DNC. I remember
B-HO painting his pretty verbal canvas of platitudes and centrist rainbows - and looking to my left and to my right as my own TV crew started to get enrolled. I remember thinking “wtf, seriously?”. I was alone amongst tens of thousands of alien zombies. (I’m just thankful that I got to gawk at Megyn Kelly for a while. :) )

I recall the endless pimping of the media for Obama surrounding his speech. The talking points memo they were all reading from described him as a "rising star".

It was easy to see even then the man was a hard-core leftist. I feared for the future of this country that night, because I knew the media was determined to elevate him to the presidency. Looking back over these last 10 years, my worst fears have been realized.

What is really sick is that if Obama could run for a third term, he would win.

It’s amazing. And after Obama’s 2008 campaign got underway, I made several posts here calling his campaign “The Cotton Candy Express” because there was so much fluff. Then I started calling him Elmer Gantry because what he was preaching seemed so insincere and overwrought.

Then after he’d been in office a very short time, I posted that: “Obama views the USA like an envioius and resentful Third Worlder.” And later that he is our first Third World president.

He once said that recipients of government benefits are an important part of a winning Dim coalition. But it’s still amazing that he has been able to hoodwink enough Americans to be elected twice.

Demographics, plus several million conservatives were so turned off by McCain and Romney that they stayed home.

I agree, he's always been so overwrought and pie-in-the-sky that it's difficult to believe so many fell for any part of it. That's what clued me into him during that 2004 DNC speech.

Maybe we need to create a new position in our government. We’ll call it “THE CHIEF BULLS**TTER”. We’ll pay $2,000,000 a year. It would be an elected position. This person would just go around the country and around the world bulls**tting people. This way, we could draw out those people who want the big money for just bulls**tting like Clinton and Obama. All the victim groups could vote their representative in.

It's been my experience that those who talk the most about honesty and integrity, and lofty political values, are the ones you can count on to be the least guided by such claimed virtures, in public or private life.

The guy claiming to be a great uniter at the DNC in 2004 has been the most divisive, lying president of the post WWII era.

I never connected with him on any level. I was just immune to his jibber jabber. I looked at his body language and his facial expressions and just knew immediately that this clown was full of crap - and then the Jeremiah Wright stuff came out . . . . and he survived?

I imagined myself a hiring manager and this liar comes to me for a job : "hmmmm, says I, Baskin Robbins - fired - community organizer? Wassat? You mean rabble rouser? What's left is hidden? What?"

I would have passed on him for a floor sweeper job at minimum wage (or less) - and the American electorate makes him president of the United States. Ok - right. . . .

Just to add to your Post.

My Late Aunt lost her Sight to Glaucoma when she was in her early 20’s. Back then there was nothing that could be done.

I remember to this day when she told me she listened to one of Obama’s Speeches back in 2008. All she said was, that guy is a Phony, one of her favorite descriptive terms.

She had no preconditioned thoughts about Obama since she was sightless, she just knew who and what he was and she was absolutely correct.

As for me, I don’t get it either. People go on about Obama’s eloquence, intelligence, personality and his “good looks” (yuck). I look at them and wonder what color the Sky is in their World. They have no idea who this guy is or where he came from, but they base their entire viewpoint of him on Faith that is supported by the Media.

They say he is a Constitutional Lawyer, he is not. They say he is Highly Intelligent, he is not. They say he wants to Unite the Country, he has not.

When you dare to question what leads them to their conclusions about Obama, they stare at you thinking to themselves, don’t you know? It is beyond creepy how half the Country can be manipulated so easily.

As a Child in the mid fifties, I remember watching movies on TV of the bodies of Jews being bulldozed into Mass Graves after the Allies Liberated the Camps. I asked my Mother how the German People could follow such an Evil Person like Hitler. She just told me she didn’t know.

Well, today I am the one who doesn’t know how half my Countrymen can support Evil, but they do and they do it proudly.

Does anyone honestly think that the rise of BO was coincidental and not planned? He has been groomed. He has had too fast a rise in too short a time. It has long been my opinion that he is an “empty suit” and only says and does those things which he is told. That is why he appears so stupid when he has to speak “off the cuff.” Remember when he was called upon to say something about the airplane that had been shot down. He blubbered through a couple of sentences and then went right into his stump/fund raising speech! A day or two later he was at least prepared and spoke about as coherent as we could expect. Why? Because his handlers had told him what to say and loaded his teleprompter.

As to the ones pulling the strings we can start with Valerie Garrett and go back to his buddies at the Weather Underground and finally to George Soros.

Some may think I am crazy, but if you look at where BO is most comfortable, it is where he is scripted and when he is out having fun (i.e. hitting on gays, drinking beer, yucking it up, playing golf). May the Lord allow us to outlive him as a nation and have a leader who can begin to repair the damage that this leftist and his crowd have created!

He was definitly groomed. No newcomer gets a prime speaking spot at a nominating convention except for very specfic reasons.

My one term description for Obama is that he is a con man. It takes some skills to be a con man, but knowledge and real intelligence aren’t required, just an ability to talk fast (or a read fast from a teleprompter) and posture and pose, which are real specialties of his.

And you’re right, he can read a teleprompter and has a few talking points memorized. Beyond that, he’s stumbling and babbling mediocrity.
