Skip to comments.Adobe Flash Player updated - now can't listen to internet radio ( vanity )
Posted on 08/01/2014 1:37:23 PM PDT by sushiman
After months of getting prompts to update my Adobe Flash player I finally did so a few days ago . Yesterday discovered that I can no longer listen to KSFO , WMAL or WABC online - won't download . Worked fine before updating . I'm using Internet Explorer . Is there some setting in AFP that I need to check or uncheck ? It's in Japanese so I'll need the wife to take care of this when she gets up . Thanks in advance !
give it a few days. most likely they will have it worked out by then
last time I had trouble it was because the player default started on mute / 0 vol.
Did you get the notice prompts from Adobe or did you get them at websites? I never update from any site notice portal but go straight to Adobe’s site to update. Sites are lying about half the time which I find out when I go to Adobe and it informs me that I’m already up to date. They just want us to install malware.
Prompts came direct from Adobe . It’s not a volume problem ; the circular icon on each site that shows it is trying to download just keeps spinning around .
See my previous post . Not a volume problem .
I use Comodo Icedragon and it works ,just tried
Check driver updates.
Try the troubleshooter.
I've unistalled, reinstalled, uninstalled, reinstalled with antivirus off . . . no result. Anyone have any ideas?
I just clicked the Listen Live top right ,if I’m at the right site
“I’m using Internet Explorer.”
Well, there’s your problem right there.
New and Improved Microsoft Hate-Blocker Software?
Oh ya ,the Pop Up scam to up date some software ,that could be it
Have you checked any settings through Control Panel>Flash Player? Not many settings there but one might be off.
Yes. Uninstall Flash and install a malware remover like this;
One you run the malware remover, reinstall Flash only from the Adobe website.
I’ll have to wait until the wife gets up ( 6 a.m. in Japan now ) as this is a made for Japan Dell and I can’t read all the Chinese characters .
You could try resetting your IE settings.
In Internet Explorer, click on Tools
Choose Internet Options
Click on the Advanced tab
Click on the Reset button (don’t check the box to delete personal settings).
Restart Internet Explorer
Also, you can delete content in your cache/temp files:
With Internet Explorer closed
Click on Start button, choose Control Panel
Select Internet Options
On the General Tab, under Browsing History, click on Settings
Click on View Files and delete everything that is listed (x out of window)
Click on View Objects and delete everything that is listed (x out of window)
Click OK to exit
Another thing to try is clear data in Adobe:
In Control Panel, select Flash Player
Under Storage Tab, select Delete All
Check all boxes and click Delete Data
Click X to close window
Now open up IE and try again to get player to work
Do you have an Anti-Virus program ? Avast will update things like flash now
“Ill have to wait until the wife gets up ( 6 a.m. in Japan now ) as this is a made for Japan Dell and I cant read all the Chinese characters.”
Try one of the many online translators for Chinese - English translation or, for that matter. Chinese - Japanese.
I just went to the WABC feed at TuneIn and listened in. It works for me.
Not able to copy text in settings window .
Japanese Dell uses Chinese characters? Why not Japanese ones?
Wiil give this a try when the wife gets up because as I said it’s all in Japanese . Thanks .
Japanese “ characters “ are Chinese charcters , plus in Japanese there are 2 other writing systems - katakana and hiragana .
sounds very inefficient and confusing
They should adopt English, lol.
They should adopt English, lol.
you mean Engrish
Hiragana ( 45 symbols ) is used to write native words for which there are no kanji . Katakana ( 45 symbols ) is used to write foreign words . Japanese use a hell of a lot less Chinese characters than the Chinese do , hence the need for hiragana and katakana . Everything is China is written with Chinese characters and they use mainly 4000 . Japanese use hald that many .
I forgot to mention that I am able to listen to WMAL podcasts but not the station itself , or any other station for that matter .
I never update software that works fine anymore.
I made that mistake with Skype some years ago, then found out that all the great features that were once free, were now paid with the updated version; such as screen sharing.
You might check out Radio?Sure. It is a standalone application that connects to many radio stations.
Freeper Alternative Techie Input as to what to use?
As a tech side bar, their is a Palemoon beta browser for Android phones ( this is the alternative to Firefox ) and it is wicked fast..
Please try this...http://www.palemoon.org/
I have been playing around with Palemoon on my laptop. I had tried it a couple of years ago and had problems.
However, I read that their 32-bit version is more compatible with the Firefox extensions than their 64-bit. So, I downloaded it. So far, most of my extensions/add-ons work great with Palemoon 32-bit portable.
Adobe Flash Player is pretty much the equivalent of a virus, in my opinion.
I keep getting “Update FireFox” did it once last year (lost everything) ... like an idiot did it again yesterday and came up with 7 Malwares and AVG walked me through the 4 hours of getting my pute back ... never again
>>Worked fine before updating .<<
That was your clue not to update.
Go to Tools / Options / Advanced and unclick Update
I can no longer listen to KSFO in the morning, too, but that's because of what Sussman did to the show.
