Now that everybody on Capitol Hill has weighed in on the Redskins name controversy, the men and women elected to represent the people have moved on to a new sports-related target: the NFL and Ravens running back Ray Rice.
U.S. Senators Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.) and Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) sent letters to commissioner Roger Goodell calling for Rice to face a harsher punishment beyond the two-game suspension handed down by the league and considered too lenient by many critics.

There you go, they are too busy getting stuff done to get stuff done. What a bunch of fatuous a**holes.
In the meantime, the world goes to hell in a hand basket.
Well, this Senate has nothing else to do since Dingy Harry won’t let any of the 300+ House bills on his desk come up for a vote. And Obama calls the House “obstructionist.
America demands Justice for the Fallen of Benghazi!
Being punished for the same infraction a second time is a violation of star jeopardy (consult the professional athlete handbook).
At least, Sen. Juan McCain avoided the temptation to stick his nose into it...
But the two idiots from my state did. Damn you Bridgeport and Hartford.
did this happen on the field?
if so, what was the penalty?
Say, what about that old pervert Joe Biden wagging his shriveled shrimp in front of his female Secret Service agents?
From a few weeks ago:
Janay Rice didn't elaborate on the role she played, although a February court summons stated that she tried to hit her husband, who then knocked her unconscious.
Rice is black so isn’t this racist by the Senators?
Add to that Stephen A. Smith being suspended from ESPN.
And yet Dana Jacobsen of ESPN cursing Jesus didn’t upset some as much as this.
.........well, let’s see, Sterling used the N word and the NBA stole his team and banned him from the league forever!
The NFL on the other hand suspended this player for 2 games for knocking his wife out COLD !
Meanwhile the woman stills loves dat husband with all dat money!!!
Totally aside from the incident and the punishment, which I think was not enough, I hate it when politicians stick their ugly noses into these things. The politicians should stick it where the sun don't shine.
These Democratic Senators are racists. They should be calling for Goodell to resign for handing down such a weak punishments after seeing the video. Always the black guy, not the white guy.
Goodell should resign...for not reviewing the AVAILABLE elevator video, that showed this horrific beating.
The US Senate has bigger fish to fry than how the NFL treats their thugs.
Charges were dropped when he sought counseling.
The league says the video was not available, they requested it but never got it.
I think my sympathy will deepen when she dumps the creep.
Good thing the NFL has instant replay. Goodell: “Upon further review”
I agree. That wasn’t my point or suggestion.
That’s what I’ve just been reading, on all of today’s reports. I thought I’d heard on Rush, that the police said it was available. Maybe I didn’t hear Rush correctly.
I wonder when the Senate will re-try OJ Simpson.
........thanks for your comment to my post!
.......I agree with you because I am against men hitting a woman under ANY circumstances other than to somehow save their own life or someone elses, which I guess does happen occasionally.
But, that said, if I had my wish, he (the creep) would dump her and she would take nothing in the ensuing divorce.
Having been married to a gold digger once upon a time myself, it is a sensitive subject.
Might have been available to the police. Thanks to being the police they have a slightly different definition of “available” than the rest of us. Of course now the Ravens cut him and the league suspended him until further notice, so I guess it’s all moot.
oh, how I’d love to see her just walk away. That would take courage.
Of course, now with the Ravens letting him go, and his having achieved a status near Donald Sterling (without any $ assets to fall back on) such that no other team will pick him up, she may have lost her meal ticket and would find dumping him fairly easy.
I don’t ‘get,’ and never will ‘get,’ women who stay with wife beaters for any reason. Not for money, not for the kids. The bully wife-beaters are not going to change. Whatever mentality allows a man to beat a woman he supposedly loves was modeled for him at a young age and he’ll never get over it.
More important, it’s a crime.
