A 43-year-old contractor was bundled into two cars on separate occasions and beaten up by robbers while being taken for a ride all the way from here to Kajang, Selangor.
It is learnt the victims car, in which he was originally bundled into, stalled along the way during the 300km journey, forcing the robbers to take him into another vehicle before they continued on with their journey.
Police are investigating whether it was a case of mistaken identity.
Sources said the victims car, bearing the number plate 2628, won first prize in a lottery draw last week.
A family member said the robbers could have thought that he had won big.
The victims ordeal started at about 5pm on Thursday when he was about to enter his car in Air Putih here.
Suddenly, four men appeared and forced him into his car, and then proceeded to tie him up, gagged as well as blindfolded him before driving for about half an hour before the car stalled.
After changing to another car, the robbers beat him up and forced him to reveal the pin number of his bank ATM card.
About RM1,800 was withdrawn before they finally released him at a secluded spot in Kajang at about 5am yesterday with bruises all over his body.
A police report was lodged by the victims wife after he failed to return home.
OCPD Asst Comm Abdul Aziz Salleh confirmed the incident.
He said they would record a full statement from the victim and look for his missing car as part of investigations.

How did they bundle him into 2 cars once, much less twice? Are the cars attached at the passenger door or something?
At least the poor man wasn't bundled into two separate cars!
