is Panamanian oregano a variety of cilantro? I cannot abide cilantro, hadn’t really had it until I lived in Colombia and found that it just makes me want to hurl! I bought a mixed greens blend at the store last week that had it in there and I was outraged, then I saw that I bought something that said mixed HERBS and I guess that’s where I got into trouble with the cilantro. Makes eating Mexican and Thai kind of dicey, I always have to ask about cilantro.
I am growing cilantro (forgot to mention it earlier). First year I've had any survive as far as blooming. Only growing it for the seeds, which are (class?) the tasty spice called coriander. Cilantro (which produces cilantro LEAF and coriander SEED) is one of only two plants on the planet that produces TWO spices. Can you name the other?
A lot of folks can't stand cilantro leaf, something in the olfactory system, I imagine. It is, however, a very pretty herb that smells delightful when in the garden (while one waits for the seeds to grow).

Another of the many things I don’t understand about liberals in this country is how they can say something ridiculous and the left supports them or backs them up. So many liberals voted for this funding but he won’t have anyone accuse him of being a hater.

um, not sure what you were saying. But yes PEREJIL was the offending herb in Colombia that they put on tomatillos and lord knows what else. make me gag!

Let's have no confusion here. Perejil is good old parsley; cilantro is cilantro (although some call it 'Chinese parsley', no idea why). I promise.

well it reads to me as: therefore, one should ask the manner of using the perejil, no cilantro please.
uno se debe decir a la camarera: por favor, no uses el cilantro, sino perejil. I doubt that is 100% accurate but I think it might get the point across!

Perhaps there's a dialect situation here. 'Perejil' is used by everyone at our local outdoor produce mkt (pretty famous in Panama, was founded by the wife of the late dictator Omar Torrijos). EVERYONE. Maybe a different usage in Colombia, eh?

I am not sure, I do know perejil was the word for the gross stuff in Colombia, I know it translates as parsley, but I thought that Chinese parsley=cilantro. I know within seconds if it’s in something, and I think I can detect the smell as well. Gotta love a Panamanian strongman. Remember when they were using that term in the media for Manuel Noriega back in the day? I picture a circus guy for that word, sounds so stupid.
