Should be just first 3 series of downs or FS falls behind, whichever comes first.

This is so stupid it is almost beyond words....

What he did was open his mouth and use words....not even directed at an individual....

He didn’t assault, rob, beat anybody....

He broke no laws, did no criminal acts....

PC wins again....

It wouldn’t bother me if they booted him off the team.
I was a big FSU supporter in the Bobby Bowden era.

Tired of these players being pandered to. Time they entered the real world complete with rules and laws that govern it.

I thought he was being punished for shouting a vulgar phrase?

In some respects I would agree.......but this should have been a no brainer for the coach for violating team rules of behavior.

Only an idiotic football team will draft this criminal, when he gets eligible for draft.

We’re going to move to an era where the character of the athlete is going to become a determining factor in them receiving a football scholarship. Used to there were just a couple of programs that would let thugs play (my school, OU, was one of them in the 80’s). But, its become so rampant that its all filtering to the NFL etc. Both college and the NFL are going to begin to look a little more at character in those job applications. That’s my opinion.

Nope, nothing more than just making him understand that little thing he obviously never learned, RESPONSIBILITY. As with any “right” comes the responsibility. As with any privilege like a full scholarship also comes a responsibility to the image of the giving organization and in that you are also a spokesman for them.

If you defecate on that RESPONSIBILITY, you are going to have to know the ramifications are coming whether you or anybody else likes it or not.

His “talent” is God given and just like that, God can take it away in whatever form He deems appropriate.

As far as Free Seafood University goes, the “win at any cost” and “play a step after the whistle” bullcrap just continues from their former acronym play of Felon State University of years past, even during the Bowden era.

Yep... only some team with a few million dollars of salary cap to throw away...

Does the punishment fit the "crime" ?

IMHO it's a bit overkill to placate the PC crowd...

I suspect with this incident, there is more to it. He is only pissing someone off. To me he has glaring character issues. However, there is only some defunct team out there, ready to roll the dice, even if it costs them any chance of playoffs for the next 3-5 years.

If the coach would have levied the game suspension then I would say yes.......but the fact he didn't show's he's gutless and Winston should be allowed to play.
