As we await word that Quinn and Rose are returning to the airwaves, our friendly group of dedicated FReeper Q&R fans will continue to meet in our usual spot as we always have! So grab your coffee - or whatever you choose to start your day - and drop in for some political chit-chat, or just to shoot the breeze! We are all coming from - or going to - work, so stop in to say hi! Feel free to join us!
Morning FRiends!
A good Columbus Day and Canadian Thanksgiving!
How did your dinner go yesterday?
Good morning and Happy Indigenous Peeples Day:).
(Hope you get to go back to sleep!)
2nd US Obola patient...maybe one in Massachusetts...we are now “in” the final 7-10 of Dallas contacts incubation period (and a lot of others that I bet we don’t know about).
Wonder what this week will bring?
Morning!
The dinner went well. There was 11 of us. Did a lot of cheater’s stuff (instant potatoes, stuffing, etc.) Actually had two large chickens instead of turkey. Just enjoyed being together and hanging out around the dinner table. No talk about politics, thanks goodness. Last year, Mr. S’s youngest sister and his older lib brother got into an argument about “gay rights”. Lib brother was not there this year.
We managed to give away most of the leftovers!
Wanna bet there a bunch more Ebola cases already in the US but it’s being kept quiet? The FReeper whose wife was on a plane coming back from Brussels has been MIA for several days!
Morning PaMom! We’re both on vacay this week. I’m going to breakfast with two co-workers Tuesday morning. We’re taking DIL and grandbaby with us for apples on Wednesday. I’ll be making applesauce sometime Thursday or Friday. We have to get the gardens cleaned up and put to bed for next year.
I’m listening to WRKO in Boston. Talking about possbile Ebola up there. A nurse who helped take care of Duncan has tested positive for Ebola.
I’m afraid of what the week will bring. It’s always a new outrage. NOw son and wife are talking about ‘prepping’. Having a baby put a whole new perspective on things. They are both very protective.
Son starts a new job today. He’s taking a big hit in the paycheck dept, but this job is only 1/2 mile from home and lots of benefits. His old boss at the local newspaper told him he could work there in the evenings part time. That - along with saving money on gas - should even out the money coming in. Hey, he’s young. Two jobs won’t hurt him, and the bills will get paid.
Our oldest son wants us to come to his house for Thanksgiving. Last year his 5 yo son said it didn’t seem like a holiday because they didn’t have any company.
So we’re going but plan on doing a chicken in our electric deep fryer so we can have our own dinner later.
My hubby & I decided that all that cooking was a pain in the rear & that we’d rather do something simple & relax with a few friends/family. Too much work & then you have to go to work the next day (in most cases).
We’ve been deep frying AND roasting turkeys for the past few years. It IS a LOT of work and especially cleaning up! They electric fryer makes it a little easier. Beats hauling propane around and it can be done indoors safely!
If it was up to me I’d stay home and have a nice, quiet time.
The FReeper whose wife was on a plane coming back from Brussels has been MIA for several days!
More of Obolas’ transparancey policy, no doubt
You have a busy week planned!
I can’t help think we ALL need to enjoy the “right now” instead of looking forward. The obola (that’s what I’m calling it from now on) has me a tad rattled. Not the actual risk, the damage it will due to medical. I watched a YouTube video of the doctor who wore the hazmat suit when he flew into Atlanta...he is a physician w/a bunch of initials after his name...and he said the STUPIDIST thing is taking obola pts to hospitals (this was DAYS before Tx Presbyterian Hospital closed their ER due to Obola). He said like w/leprosy & TB free standing “MASH” type triage units need set up. We should have OUR military bldg field hospitals HERE not in Liberia. So I fear not contracting Obola, but getting sick w/flu, gall bladder, bad cut and NO functioning ER nearby—that WILL kill thousands.
YES! And he had a really odd screen name “ononi” or something close. Others questioning his MIA status posted in one of the 10k Obola threads.
Kinda spooky.
Speaking of Ebola and the holidays...
Did yunz all see that Ebola is threatening the cacao crop in Africa? It is harvest time and because of border closings and the illness there is a critical labor shortage!
That means little or NO chocolate for the holidays! Even M&Ms, Snickers and the like will be in short supply. Plus isn’t it comforting to know that the chocolate is being harvested by people form areas where Ebola is running wild?
Oh Yeah....anyone else get the Black Friday emails?
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Can’t. Live. Without. Medicinal. Chocolate.
I believe when I “bug out” it will be to Hershey, PA.
(But actually good to learn SOME borders are being sorta closed)

I just bought a large bag of dark chocolate chips for Christmas baking. Going out to buy more choc. on payday.
I got my first BFads and Black Friday Ads emails last week! SIL, DIL and I are looking forward to another girls day out!
Thank you!
His last post was 10/7/14.
I wonder if (since FEDS took wife’s info before/after deplaning) ALL were told to “keep quiet.” Once they have your contact info, finding your ip addy, Twitter, FB, etc would be easy peasy for the NSA gang.
(PaMom waves in the general direction of the NoVA bunkers and places her request for a lower bunk when interred at Club Gitmo).
Will we even HAVE BF this year (crowds prohibited; crush commerce; dollar fail—see how depressed I get even THINKING no chocolate?)
