'Tis the season to see the family, which means you're probably about to spend some quality time -- maybe too much time -- in an airport.
The following are the worst airports for holiday flight problems on arrivals, according to a Bankrate analysis.
Bankrate determined the frequency of holiday flight problems -- delays, cancellations and diversions -- at the United States' 100 most active airports, using Bureau of Transportation Statistics data for the months of November to January over the past 10 years. The rankings for busiest airports are based on total arrivals over the same time period.

The usual suspects plus some real surprises. Fayetteville, Arkansas! WTF? They must be talking about cargo planes shipping Wal-Mart stuff out, eh?
Newark, LaGuarida, JFK are the worst any time of year.
And the “Worst Airline” award goes to...
US Air!!!
I suffered four flights with “Skid-Row Airlines” in the last five days.
The planes are so old, they have ashtrays in the seats.
The words uncomfortable, cramped, dreary, smelly, don’t go quite far enough to describe this horrendous enterprise.
Don’t get me started on Useless Air. Some of the worst customer service in the world, among other things.
I’m glad someone mention Des Moines’ airport as being bad for holiday travel. Their airport was built before Eddie Rickenbacker and the Red Baron were flying.
That's funny you should mention that. I was on a flight with them comming out of Mexico two weeks ago. Two rows ahead of me and across the isle in an Embassadair (I think - 2 rows one side 1 row the other), the overhead utility panel fell open and the passengers were trying to get it pushed back up in place. O2 tubes, wires exposed.... Finally, a pilot or somebody came back, pulled out his keys, used them as a tool to wedge something back together and fixed the panel back in place.
More concerning to me than the plane falling apart was the fact that the pilot seemed to be proficient at fixing it. It made me wonder what else was going on in the cockpit.
If that's not enough for you, the week before, we had to deplane and get another plane from them because a cargo door was broken and would not close properly. I have spoken to my travel assisant about being more selective of my carriers. ;o)
When they pulled out, Southwest moved in and Delta increased their flights. Now we have people from Ohio and even New York driving to Pittsburgh for better air fares.
USeless Air still has a large number of flights here, but I've managed to avoid them all except once (a business flight to Philly where the company picked the airline).
We are blessed with one of the best airports in the country even though we are still under capacity. We have a world class airport mall which was swamped with visitors and shoppers a few days ago when non-ticketed passengers were allowed past security. It went off without a hitch . . . which makes you really wonder why the TSA is even necessary.
US Air has, for all intents and purposes, left Pittsburgh.
So don’t blame us for this anymore.
Southwest has the rudest staff I’ve ever encountered.
LAX is horrible. I hate that airport!
When I was there last, they had a series of Quonset huts for passenger terminals and services. I kid you not.
When the FAA has to give the Int'l Airport system an enema, Liberty International is where they stick the tube.
What’s the matter with Columbia?
The problem with USAirways is that it still operates like the monopoly it once was in Pittsburgh. They used to be able to mistreat passengers because there were no other choices. Now they have competition from Southwest and others, but they still act like a monopoly.
I love Southwest. Too bad they don't fly into DC from Pittsburgh.
Number 10 surprises me. Not much happens here in Columbia and what times I’ve had to use CAE, it seemed kind of quiet.
You obviously haven’t flow into Atlanta’s international “terminal”
That’s what inquiring minds want to know.
Columbia is definitely a surprise on the list. I have no idea why it is there. The only South Carolina airport I’ve ever used is Greenville-Spartanburg, which appears reasonably well organized.
Strange that Anchorage is there. With my daughter and grandkids there, we’ve been in and out of there the past several Christmases with no problem.
