No they won't, at least not in NY and NJ and probably other states. A bill specifically made it illegal to issue speeding tickets for speeding between toll plazas was enacted in NJ not long after EZPASS was installed. I believe a similar bill was passed in NY.

People have been saying what you said forever...and the moment they enact that, 75% of the people go back to paying cash. The road authorities make a dollar or two every month per transponder, they won't jeopardize their revenue stream.

Interesting article. Delaware doesn't monitor toll booth speeds because they have built dedicated ezPass lanes that maintain a 65 mph speed limit.

PA, on the other hand, has 5 mph speed limits at the toll booths in ezPass lanes (interspersed with regular cash lanes and they do monitor speed. There are a few exceptions but you pay your toll at an exit rather than in thru lanes (unlike Delaware and Maryland) so you have to slow somewhat anyway but 5 mph is a wee bit slow.

I've used ezPass for 15 years and have never been cited for going to fast.

I’ve often thought that when you’re on those toll roads, which give you a ticket with the time stamp that they would come after you if you got to the next toll “too fast”...sounds like we’re heading that way..

Been around since at least the '60s for some areas. NY ThruWay (90) would issue tickets if you arrived early enough to have been doin some healthy speeding - a few minutes was no issues but something indicating 10mph+ would get you a fine at the receiveing booth.

The speed limit on the toll roads in Houston is whatever you want it to be. I have EZ pass in Houston, worked nights for 2 years. At 3;30 am the average speed was about 85 on the toll way.

Never driven that one. I have had no conflicts with other drivers on the PA/OH tpk, or anywhere else. Use of the rightmost lane (except when passing) may contribute to deconfliction.
