Simple yet memorable. At 68, memories are all I have left ... don’t know how long those will last considering my health. Great life, great memories and a great Jesus filled existence. No regrets.

Hmmmm ..?? ‘63 was when Kennedy was killed.

I’ve often wondered if they had him killed.

Thank you. Feel free to ping me to these types of posts. I need them, especially around Christmas. Feeling very nostalgic this year for some reason.

I'm an oldie too. here are a couple of things from my childhood. Recognize them?

"Whizzer The Talking Airplane" album. (1947)

"The Bumper Book" (1946)

I found a mint copy of this book at a yard sale this past Summer for $40. I hear they are going for up to $350 these days in good condition. I have two...the original from my childhood which has little binding left...and the mint one. Same copyright date. I was overjoyed to find it. I can't wait to read it to the newest generation of little ones in my family. Currently it is sealed in a mylar bag with oxygen absorbers.

A very Happy Christmas to all!

If I were under 25, I guess I'd say;

"What's a Campell's Soup kid?"

As good a place as any to post my favorite Christmas memory.

It was 1969. I was 8 and my sister was 7. The year before, my father had left his job with an oil company to return to the family farm. My grandfather had cancer, and my dad ran the farm. Money was desperately scarce.

Under the tree that year for my sister and I were a bicycle and a Bible. As an adult with greater understanding of our circumstances at the time, I asked my Mother how she had ever gotten enough money to buy two bicycles. She put back every spare nickle she possibly could for months and months.

The bicycle is, of course, long gone, but I still have the Bible. It is a KJV, black leather cover with a zipper that closed it up. The pages are practically tissue. I'm sure you must know what I'm talking about; those were very common back in the day. It's pretty worn now, but I still love to look at the inscription written in her neat hand.

I miss my parents still, never more than at Christmastime.
