That is a brilliantly effective catch phrase for prepping.

"How We'd Feed Ourselves After The Apocalypse"

It's obvious that most people writing about the issue wouldn't.

“Fruitcakes and twinkies.”

Sounds like the San Francisco version of Terminus.

If fossil fuel supply stopped tomorrow, 90% of the world’s population would likely starve to death within 2 years.

In 10 years, we wouldn’t be suffering famine any more and in 50 years we would back to the 1880’s.

Sooner than two years I suspect. I wouldn’t think anymore than six to eight months (given disease and poor health).

I keep around 30 laying hens at all times. Adding a rooster will keep the flock going as well as provide some tasty six month old cockerels. Three water sources stocked with fish nearby. Plenty of doves and feral pigs from the fields will make a fine meal as needed. Three thousand square feet of fertile gardening area. Three apple trees, one lemon tree, one plum tree, six pecan trees and concord grape vines that all produce fruit.

I have been prepping for over six years now. It has been a lot of work but well worth the effort.

If just fossil fuels went, we would lose about 30%. If electricity went too, we’d lose 90%. And, more like 6-8 months.

Keep yourself away from the cities for a few months and there’ll be food enough for everyone!

You can’t farm with electricity.

I say down to 90% in 2 years, because people would eat what they could find for quite a while, but I would concede that most of that 90% would be gone in 6-8 months.

I didn’t assume that the 90% would last 2 years and then die. I see the 2 year point as the stabilization point, where those that have survived that long would continue to survive.
