Is this an American church, or a church for all Christians?
What does the Bible say about where to put flags in the church?
Ridiculous. It’s about a flagpole on land outside of a church attended by civilians, not a naval vessel.
I would keep looking for a church. If you get the sense he is more interested in “being right” on this issue, what might that indicate for the future and other issues?
I recently pointed someone who was using a flag inappropriately for decoration to the flag code and the rules that establish proper respect in handling and displaying the flag and was vilified for being rude and mean spirited. The flag code is either not taught to or is just ignored by some Americans.
I used to be in interior design so keep up with design trends and in recent years have seen an uptick in the flag being used as part of decoration, table covering, chair throw, and as the most recent wreath wrap. Grrrrrr

Oops, sorry fot the double post.
In the churches I have been to that fly flags the US flag is on the left hand side of the alter and the ‘church’ flag is on the right hand side (as seen facing the alter from the congregation)
When I move to a new Church, I look for a Pastor who I respect, and accept as one of my spiritual guides. A Pastor who I can mold to my own opinion is not an acceptable guide.

On a personal note, I would be more concerned with your choice of a screen name than flag placement. Are you proclaiming yourself to be a creature God himself sends out of Heaven to wreak havoc on the Earth, or are you honoring that creature? In the first instance there is great hubris, and in the second you are glorifying one of God's creations, possibly over God Himself.
Every one posting, and you are are correct, the American Flag always is on top.
But before you take offense, you should try to talk to the guy alone and get a read on his motives.
I know a lot of people that are hardcore patriots and at this point so disgusted with the state of our country, and the stupidity 1/2 of the population that they are in “ this is not America” mode. I have had to convince a buddy to knock it off with the upside down flag along the way. It was freaking out the clueless neighbors that didn’t know what it meant. Many around here fly the State Flag only.
As a preacher, his only public FU option in response to the destruction of our culture and country is gonna be little passive aggressive things like this. I would just talk to the man before walking away. Why not?
Maybe that is the reason the Lord sent you there. You might be someone he needs to talk with.
( Then again maybe he’s drunk Irish like I grew up with, screwed up the order, and said to hell with it who’s gonna notice ;- )
Ginve the treason in the White House and the SCOTUS, and the gutless cowards in Congress, perhaps the U.S. flag should be flown upside down until the situation is corrected.
I’m a member of my local Knights of Columbus color corps. We present the US flag and the Vatican and the US flag is ALWAYS given honor over the Vatican flag.
Perhaps the Jehovah’s Witnesses are right on this one. How can one know?
Since the flag code has been stated by numerious freepers. I would add this if talking to the pastor doing this. How is it honoring to Jesus to show disrespect to Nation he has so blessed us to be a part of?
Since there is no conflict regarding between the Bible and the flag code I think Romans 13:1 would apply “Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.”
It’s a Biker nick-name.
