yes, I think eastern rite is far more strict, I can see that Deacons would not fly.

They have Deacons there, but without the same duties.

yes, as assistants, but not doing primary duties like sacraments? soninlaw’s first communion is the 28th of feb. if it were a diocesan church I imagine he couldn’t have it during Lent.

Deacons don’t do sacraments. They can distribute communion at a service without a consecration.

Marriage is OK as well, I believe, since it is the couple that actually confers the sacrament.

Noted. Any baptized Christian can baptize another. We all have the power, but it is only licit in emergency situations.

So making Deacons licit to baptize is understandable.

so you can't make the blanket statement that deacons don't do sacraments since we just listed 3 that they CAN! LOL! btw, this shocked the hell out of my family this past weekend. I worked there as a teenager and it was someplace my kids looked forward to visiting when we were up to see my dad.

You know what I meant. ;-)

Yeah, the Monroeville mall shooting just days after the 16 YO shot another and took a selfie with the corpse made for a bizarre week.

Too add to the bizarre, one of the witnesses at the mall shooting was Jeannette’s own Terrelle Pryor, now signed as QB with the Chiefs.

I understand and empathize. He was a fine leader. The Church can get through this current phase.

A friend posted this to FB, had to share....

Gotta love those grand-kids .. I was eating breakfast with my 10-year-old Granddaughter and I asked her, What day is tomorrow?" Without skipping a beat she said, "It's Presidents Day!" .. She's smart, so I asked her "What does Presidents Day mean?" .. I was waiting for something about Obama, Bush or Clinton, etc. She replied, "Presidents Day is when the President steps out of the White House, And if he sees his shadow, we have another year of Bull Shit." You know, it hurts when hot coffee spurts out your nose. Have A Great Day

Koolaid drinkers voted for Obama
And thought how good he would be-
Instead they gave us a sybarite
Who golfs and travels for free

Free for him, that is-because
We pay from the little we make-
Taxed so we can barely exist
As he eats lobster and steak

He and Michelle are oblivious
Not seeing things are turning-
Telling us what to eat and buy
While Rome continues burning...

The classic station I was listening to on the way from work is having a nonsense rock song contest-I heard a couple of my favs, but I was horrified to realize that I remembered part of this one, although not the group that inflicted it on radio audiences-

“Yummy, yummy, yummy, I got love in my tummy,
And I feel like a-lovin you-
Love you’re such a sweet thing, good enough to eat thing
And that’s just a-what I’m gonna do...”

And it is stuck now-the yammering little voices and the idiotic lyrics...

Play some headbanger stuff to clear your bubblegum-infested brain. You know it cracks me up/irritates me how I know all the lyrics from those stupid songs and TV theme songs and can’t remember the really important things, like blood gas values, that would actually be useful.
