A Virginia high school senior who spends snow days clearing snow and ice from neighborhood driveways and sidewalks saw something out of his mother's car window that compelled him to tell her to stop the car, CBS Richmond affiliate WTVR-TV reports.

Teresa Adams and her son Tommy were driving home from the DMV when they drove past an older man who was trying to shovel snow from his driveway. The man was using a walker to get around.

Somehow doing it to post to youtube takes something out of it.

Wonderful.
We need more news like this. There are good people in this screwed up world. People who just do what needs to be done, not wanting or expecting anything for doing it.

Some how its never enough for some FReepers. There’s always an ‘if’ no matter what the good work is. Some FReepers remind me of that lady in New Orleans during Katrina and someone gave her a bottle of water and she complained that it wasn’t cold.

Didn't click on the link so I assume from your comment that the kid in question was a minority. It's surely true that anyone who judges any group, positively or negatively, wholesale is stupid beyond words.

Regardless of the race of the kid I say to him "well done, indeed!"

If you’re talking about the young man, then you did not read the article.

There was no video to “post to youtube”, only a photo that his stunned but proud mother took. He himself neither expected nor asked for any recognition or payoff.

You missed a good story.

If the kid or his mother posted it, of course you’re correct.

Somehow doing it to post to youtube takes something out of it.

Depends on the motive. I'd prefer to think that it was posted to set an example, maybe to motivate others to do the same.

A wonderful, young man and thank you for posting this, Kartographer! I can see why his Mom said she was very proud of him and it made her cry. Simple acts of kindness get me weepy, too. She raised a good, kind, and caring young man.
