I thought I was the only one that owned a dog that sat on the pool cover when he would break the ice with his weight and I went out and swear he was smiling sitting on the ice...but then again he was a Siberian husky. I was afraid his nails would go through the cover but he reluctantly got off when I yelled at him...(my next door neighbors kitchen window faced that side of the house and she called me and told me Chechow was on the pool) He loved the snow which was good cause Michigan has lots of snow and ice in the winter. That bugger chewed through a snow drift fence to get into the pool area. By summer he learned to climb the metal fence and get out of the back yard. Those dogs are smart. After a couple of years I had to find him a new home and the woman already had one husky so she knew what she was in for...

Yep that’s the East Haddam swing bridge in the background. The Gelsten House is beyond.
It was common for cars from Chester to drive on the frozen River up to Middletown. I’ve seen photos of Model Ts on the River displayed at the Chester Historical Society.......
Crazy stuff. :)

The Labs learned to scale the 4’ cedar fence surrounding the pool so they could take a daily constitutional around the neighborhood.
My pool guy advised me that having a single dog swim in your pool was the equivalent of 21 people in the pool.....Heh. do the math. LOL.

Ahhh, I thought it might be the Arrigoni Bridge near Middletown. I’m older than dirt and this is about the worst winter in New England I can remember. I’m up in the northeast corner of CT and this March 1 feels like January at it’s worst.

I hear ya. It’s been brutal ....but I lived in No.Conway for quite o’ chunk time ....it could be worse. ;D
Do you live anywhere near Mashapaug? We kayak there and that area is wonderful! More like Vermont or NH than the rest of this *&%#@* state.
[At least you can ice fish safely. Heh.]

Close enough to keep an eye on those pesky UCONN students. ;)
Bigelow is a nice place to paddle...but the *beaches* are so rocky.
We love FrogRock. So few of the sweet roadside spots of my youth in CT are left....a nostalgic moment. Sniff, Sniff.
