I have been told these were the same people (Dixie Mafia) who after being run out of Phenix City, took over McNary County Tennessee.
The same ones Buford Pusser had to deal with.
All I know or need to know is that it is useless, it doesn’t provide the benefits its apologists say it does, and I can’t stand it.
I hate DST. PITA that achieves nothing.
“Only the government could cut a foot from the top of a blanket and sew it to the bottom and call it a longer blanket”, quote from an old Indian woman regarding DST.
What?........
. . .
It's because of people like you who apparently have never figured out that DST doesn't actually add any sunlight to the day that we have this tyrannical mess today.
You really believe that don't you . . . that changing the clocks actually adds an extra hour of sunlight to the day?
I'd better post this now before I say something I regret.
I just wish we moved clocks ahead more than just one hour.
I agree with you whole-heartedly, but then you’re going to get someone crying, “oh, but the CHEEELDREN will be waiting for the bus in the dark—waaaah!” Why don’t we just start school an hour later?
It’s so idiotic!
How do i adjust my sundial?
I’m definitely in the minority, but I despise DST.
.
But why couldn’t you arrange those benefits without most of the country having to change their clocks? Sure having more daylight after work can be handy, but that’s what adjusting your schedule is for, no reason everybody else has to change it.
No you aren’t; read through the replies again.
The people who like it, post many times over and one poster posted something ridiculous, just to get others to post against him. It’s a stupid, puerile, sick “joke”.
DST is a crime against nature and many people’s inner clocks NEVER adjust to it physically.
I’m usually to work between 6 and 6:30 so I can’t go much earlier. I prefer the longer daylight in the evening if you prefer in the morning thats up to you. Do you really want it getting light at 4 AM?
I think we should do away with changing the time. A conversation about which system to adopt on a year round basis would be reasonable, not rude, YMMV
They don’t care if its light or dark when they go to school. I bet they prefer daylight to play in after school as well.
I bet the kids would rather have the daylight after school when they can play as well! As for waiting for the bus in the dark, its the parent’s responsibility to get their child to school. I got 3 kids to sometimes 3 different schools every day without any of them waiting on a street corner in light dark cold or hot, and am now doing it again with the next generation..... it takes a little planning and occasionally good carpools.
If this was just for me, I wouldn’t bother saying a thing about it. But I know there are plenty of people and families who enjoy those benefits of more daylight hours after work.
BUT ... let’s look at it from the other side ... those who don’t care about more daylight time after work. What’s the “problem” from their side, if that extra time makes no difference to them?
There will be two times a year that their clock is adjusted by one hour. Other than that, all their own activities are at the exact same clock-time that they always were. They go to work at the same time, they come home from work at the same time, all the businesses they frequent keep the same operating hours, anything that they do on their own time will have the same time and schedule as before. In other words, I can’t see that it changes anything they do - by the clock - that they did before. I can’t see why they would be bothered in the least ... :-) ...
It’s safer for the kids on the streets if they traveling those streets during daylight hours.
I live in a land without DST. I prefer an early sunrise in the summer to a late sunrise in the winter.
Doing away with changing the time is correct. The problem is HOW. The right way is to throw DST on the ash-heap of history where it belongs. It would not be reasonable to make DST permanent, it would be stupid. DST is always stupid. And there’s no variation on the mileage, it is just plain a dumb idea. People should work out their OWN schedules to arrange the daylight and work hours the way they like, NOT change EVERYONE’S schedule.
Assuming you have a basic backyard model like that pictured below, what you do is take an 8mm Allen Wrench (might be one taped under the table) and loosen the two hex nuts holding the gnomon to the sundial face.
Rotate the gnomon 15 degrees in the clockwise direction and then retighten the nuts.
You are now all set! At least for the next six months.
But it IS just for you. If these folks want their schedule to work different then they should MAKE it work different, not make EVERYONE work differently. I get an extra hour of daylight after work all year, I do it by leaving work around 4, very simple. Own your life, own your schedule, don’t make everybody else change for you.
Your children and now your grandchildren don’t get out of school before 5:00PM ? REALLY ?
Neither do they have any homework nor tests, so that they can play outside at 8:00PM ? REALLY ?
