WASHINGTON (TG) — Frustrated and confused by the notion that a platform based on putting national interests first could win an election, President Obama issued a statement today warning Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu not to “assume he has a mandate just because he got more votes.”
“Obviously, the Likud party had a good night. And they deserve credit for running good campaigns. Beyond that, I’ll leave it to all of you and the professional pundits to pick through yesterday’s results,” said Obama.
“Still, as the U.S. president, I have a unique and global responsibility to try and make the Middle East work which, of course, can only mean a two-state solution. So, to the paltry 71.8% of Israeli citizens who voted in this insular and marginalizing election, we hear you. But, to the 99.9% of the global citizenry who didn’t, we really, really hear you.”

Usually, these days, satire articles have a disclaimer in the title. This one slipped through. There was enough evidence in the excerpt to give it away, though.
