The Big Broadcast is a Sunday night tradition for families throughout the WAMU listening area. Each week, Big Broadcast host Ed Walker offers listeners priceless recordings of popular radio programs from the '30s, '40s and '50s. Priceless, especially, for a man whose first sentence as a child was, 'Turn the radio on.'

An early thread today as I'll be returning just before showtime...

Think of tonight's lineup like an inverse bell curve...we start strong, then some weaker shows come in with Life of Riley and Red Ryder...then we get stronger with Sam Spade and end with a '48 Lux about boxing.

Have a great Sunday...see you tonight...

Hey, Vision! What did you do? I hope it was fun!

We went to Mobile and only got back about an hour and a half ago, so we’re behind on laundry and barbecue. I ran and got us a baby back rack Keith’s getting ready to throw on the Egg along with a couple of sweet potatoes.

Well, Keith’s from Mobile, and some of his family is there, including his Mom, but we went to a church picnic thing where some of his grade school friends were going to be there. It was nice, but also nice to get home safely. I hate traveling on the Interstate. I’m a road chicken.

I’ve gotten to where I’m scared of other drivers, because there are so many idiots, and yes, they drive stupidly fast. I used to drive fast but not anymore. On I-10, there are wrecks all time, speed limit 70 (though they drive 90, some of them), and a wreck happens in a nanosecond.

Good evening. Gunsmoke never gets old. Even episodes I have heard many times.

Did you listen to any more Vic and Sade this week?

Not really. I started with the earliest I could find. Bill Idleson (Rush) was in the military fron 42 - 45 and I am not a fan of the kid they replaced him with.

Here’s another link to episodes that I just found.
