Most of the hard drinkers I know that quit had replaced it with anti-depressants and/or anti-anxiety drugs.
Still more just dialed back the drinking and took the pills.
Xanax and Tequila is the dose of choice now.

Seagram's 7 was my first real falling down drunk experience. At maybe 15 or so. Even to this day if I pass a bottle of it under my nose I get nauseous.

Oil price is important for Russia. More than half of their export is oil. 52% in 2012. Yes, but now its correlated to alcohol consumption? If anything is true in Russia, tough economic times should mean an INCREASE in alcohol use. Overall, i think there are cultural developments decreasing alcohol use.
