Florida State Freshman quarterback DeAndre Johnson was dismissed from the football team today after a security video showed him punching a female classmate in a bar. The incident happened last month, at which point Johnson was suspended, but after the revelation of the video he was permanently kicked off the team.
Predictably, the narrative plastered all over TV was “College athlete slugs female student” leaving out any context or details that led to Johnson sticking the girl with a right cross.
In the essence of fairness, your humble correspondent is going to break this down for you:
0:05 – Johnson looks to politely ask a female to his left to allow him through to the bar
0:07 – A different female student to the right whips around and says something to Johnson, who ignores her and tries to maintain his position in line
0:13 – Female student whips around again, seemingly unprovoked, and starts yelling at Johnson
0:15 – Johnson is now enraged after having been confronted twice by the female student
0:16 – Female student raises her fist and appears to be threatening Johnson
0:17 – Johnson, not wanting to be struck, grabs her arm to prevent her from swinging.
0:18 – Johnson appears to be warning her not to swing at him and continues to restrain her
0:22 – Female student uses her other fist to punch Johnson
0:23 – Johnson retaliates by punching the female student back
That breakdown is a long way from “athlete hits woman.” But men here know the SJW agenda all but guarantees men will never get a fair shake in the court of public opinion, and increasingly in the court of law.

This writer sure does fill in alot of blanks in his version of events. All I saw was a guy trying to press his way in to the bar, provoking a female patron who got there first, becoming agitated and grabbing her arm, at which time she tries to hit him with a girlie punch, after which he clocks her with a manly right cross and promptly flees the scene.
The “threatening” gestures by the female were laughable.
His slugging her in the head was disproportional. This fool just threw away his football career by being a “tough guy.”
That’s what the thug life hip hop lifestyle gets you.
The puritanical side of me here, but if you have a potential LIFETIME of income depending on keeping it together for a few years, why the hell are you, as a FRESHMAN, in a bar in the first place? My advice to any athlete with any prospect of a pro career is “do not go to any parties where there is alcohol or go to any bars until you get your first pro contract.”
Sorry, don’t hit a woman. I don’t care how tough a woman is, a man is much stronger. Her punch probably stung a bit but the guy could have lifted her up moved her behind him and who knows what would have happened. Don’t hit a woman, especially at a bar. Idjit!
Don't know what "MEN" this joker is talking about but if I were in attendance I'd have likely sucker punched the punk in the same manner he did with that female..........
YOU DON'T HIT A WOMAN! At 6'1" and 200 lbs., this thug is hardly any target for violence from a female........

Rewatch the video. She swung first. She threw the first punch.
Forget for a moment that it glanced off of his face.
Would we still be having this conversation if she had connected and her fingernail, or jewelery would have caused him permanent eye damage?
Both should be charged for assault. She doesn’t get to play the victim here.

I see someone else saw what I saw on this video. 2 guilty parties.

But that IS!!! the life of many pro and college athletes....sports, bars, parties. The latter two are where the athletes find the females, drugs, and liquor they so strongly desire. Expecting them to stay home and either bible study or read Shakespeare is not in the cards.

Its been a while since I was a college freshman, but the best I can recall is that you are about 2-3 years away from legal drinking age.
Saw the video. The female student threw a punch at about a quarter of a foot per minute, at best catching him in his left shoulder. His response was awful and uncalled for. His response was appropriate for a life threatening situation nothing less. No sympathy for him.
I just don’t get it. Only a handful of people in the world have the opportunity to earn $30, $50, maybe $100 million really for about 5-10 years’ work, and if I had that staring at me, I wouldn’t do anything to endanger that. There is plenty of time later for booze, coke, or whatever you want.

There’s ALWAYS two parties at fault. Civilization has proven over the centuries that society should put the onus on the male.
It’s not fair to him, but it’s fairest for society over all.

Not from me, HT! How I see the video is different. I see him push in and his hands go near her side and he grabs her hair. I also see a 19 year old in a bar. (I believe Florida is 21.. thus, he ignores the law). What NFL team is going to pay huge $ for someone they have to let go and deal with the PR (Ray Rice anyone?). FWIW... unless, and with the exception of some crazy woman going after you with a weapon or just jumps on your back and tries to claw your eyes out.. you don’t hit a woman. I have little to no respect for any man who would condone it because “well, she pushed first”. Like my Dad said, “Any man that hits a woman is a coward and won’t stand up to a real man”.
She certainly seemed like the instigator, but are we sure this guy didn’t “cop a feel” whilst moving up to the bar?
I’m very cynical in my beliefs about entertainment, sports and the media in general.
Future pro athletes, pro athletes, MSM, and Hollywood are all bonded at the hip to the concept of being in a special club that is being made very rich by kickbacks from marketing.
They make huge sums of money through the propaganda that they create, which is convincing we the people we need to spend money on something to impress others that no one else really gives a hoot about. Even more outrageous is how taxpayers are roped into sponsoring them and building their stadiums and funding their movies.
