Is the race for the Republican nomination finally shaking out? Four candidates get double-digit backing -- and then thereâs a steep drop-off to the rest of the field.
The latest Fox News national poll on the 2016 election finds that Donald Trump has the edge, as GOP primary voters by wide margins identify him as the best candidate on the economy, as well as the one most likely to beat presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. The poll also finds Ben Carson remains within striking distance of Trump.

Here are the numbers: Trump has the backing of 26 percent of Republican primary voters and is closely followed by Carson at 23 percent. The next tier includes two first-term Cuban-American senators: Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio at 11 percent each. Those four capture the support of 7 in 10 primary voters (71 percent).

This campaign is now getting started.
Good news with Trump putting out commercials now. I was afraid he was going to rely on the free publicity, but seems he senses it’s time to start counter attacking with ads. I heard him say that he had budgeted to have spent 24 million by now, but obviously hadn’t needed to.
Most, if not all of the others, should drop out, they are just wasting everyone’s time.
I still don’t see how Carson could still be in double digits, not after supporting amnesty, gun control, aligning himself with Sharpton, and having a Farrakhan supporter on his staff. Couple that with the fact that he looks like he’s on some heavy duty downers, and barely able to keep himself awake.
The pyramid stuff doesn’t help either
Carson:
Is remarkably low-key. That is unusual in presidential candidates.
Is following on Obama’s presidency as a candidate in the GOP. A lot of Republicans are now tending toward also supporting a black candidate in part to demonstrate openness.
Is running against Trump. There is an entire segment of the GOP which is selling out American interests in China, which Trump is opposing. Those people are looking for a candidate, and Bush washed out big time. Carson is an alternative for them.
Is a darned nice guy. A lot of people like him. That counts for a whole lot.
He’s competitive. I’ve got to hand it to the guy. I hope Trump is seriously considering him as his Vice President.
:D
Yup. Everyone else has been blowing their....uh....bucks. Trump is just starting.
I’m amazed that Carson is such a big money-raiser.

Wasn’t Carson leading this poll last time around?
Openness: An overarching concept or philosophy that is characterized by an emphasis on transparency and free, unrestricted access to knowledge and information; e.g. not keeping secrets.
I keep hearing this kind of nonsense, but based on the definition of the word it is meaningless. Explain how supporting a candidate because of his race demonstrates that I am not witholding information about my deeply held beliefs?? I think it demonstrates an infantile need for approval, with societal approval replacing parental, playing right into the lib's intentions to try to compete with them for PC points. We should vote for the candidate who is aligned with our best interests and conservative principles, their race, disabilities, disadvantagedness, gender issues, or any other PC crap should never even be a factor.
Trump is probably like Bevin about 10 points higher than the polls reflect!
Like Bevin, Trump is probably 10 point s higher than the polls reflect.
Carson is a weak candidate. His stance on most issues is disasterous. The only reason he has not already faded is that he has not come under scrutiny.
He stumbled badly in the last debate and look for a repeat next week. Trump is saving him for last. First order of business now that Jebbie is toast is finishing off Rubio.
The last person in the world you want a heartbeat from the presidency is Carson. He needs to be gone.
“Like Bevin, Trump is probably 10 point s higher than the polls reflect.”
Exactly right. The MSM and Dems (and RINO’s) are working overtime right now to try to get rid of Trump by manipulating polls, and badmouthing him everywhere, but Trump is like one of those dolls that when you punch him, he just springs right back up. It’s a pointless endeavor on their part this time around, lol. Mainstream America has wised up. We’re on to them. And we shall not be deterred. GO TRUMP!
go look at drudge right now. the illegals are making Trump’s point in spades. illegals teach their kids to be low rent scum. these illegals are driving millions of votes to Trump
“these illegals are driving millions of votes to Trump”
Good, it’s about time. Go Trump!
“It couldn’t be because they portrayed him as a âtrumpinatorâ now could it? /s lolol.....”
Bingo. Right you are.
“Trump just rolled out his first commercials today.
This campaign is now getting started.”
You are correct. In Iowa there has been over 1 million in adds spent against him. Now that he is fighting back through adds it will be interesting to see what the polling will say.
