Las Vegas - James Dobson, founder of the Christian group Focus on the Family and one of the nation's most influential evangelicals, will endorse Ted Cruz for president today, according to sources briefed on the announcement.
It will represent the latest in a series of endorsements for Cruz from prominent conservative leaders, dozens of whom met secretly last week and voted to coalesce their forces behind the Texas senator. The plan, as decided by the Tony Perkins-led group, is to slowly roll out endorsements from prominent conservative leaders individually to create a perception of the "movement" uniting behind Cruz.
Dobson, sources say, has long been an outspoken voice on Cruz's behalf, arguing in previous private gatherings that Marco Rubio was not sufficiently conservative to earn the group's support.
Ted should be the clear choice for Christians.

I also like Santorum and Huckabee. I like Jindal. But Cruz is the guy for this time.
His endorsement will have a huge effect.

Santorum was about my 4th choice last time and I ended up voting for him in the primary but this time its been Cruz from day 1.

I’m not meaning that as rude as it may sound. Just saying that just because past endorsements did not payoff, does not mean they do not matter or, worse, are harmful as you imply.
Good conservatives will differ in the primaries. Cheap shots, lies, schemes, only serve to ensure everyone on the right loses in the end.
Good for Ted and James Dobson but totally meaningless to most people. I, as have most Trump supporters, made up my mind based on what I see and hear from Trump not based on some endorsement from an “evangelical leader” who’s not even a minister.

Cruz needs to be seen as the evangelical’s alternative to Trump. This endorsement can only help.
James Dobson has been a hugely negative figure in American politics for many years.
His endorsement has ended many careers.
Except for the electoral votes in Jesusland (about 85 votes), he gains you nothing and costs you lots.
His endorsement will have zero effect because contrary to what you think, most voters can care less what some so called evangelical leader says. And Ted’s at about his high point with evangelicals anyway.
So your smearing of Dobson is going to achieve exactly what for Trump?
